No awareness at all from the ump. Bateman calls for the ball, Byrnes passes it to him and as Bateman goes back to kick the ball, the ump gives him 50 coz Byrnes passed it to the wrong person.

Umps want Hawthorn to win this one I'd say. A free kick is called against Byrnes, Bateman calls for it he throws it too him and it's 50m for being the wrong player. What a joke.

50 to Skipper (bateman call) was awful, no awareness of the play by the umpire. that said, if he didn't see Bateman call, then he HAS to pay 50m.

Interesting the Sewell's two worst efforts at holding the ball in weren't penalised, yet two others have been, neither of which probably should have been (IMO).

Ottens was harsh I thought too, but Enright (?) got away with one directly in front.

Hawks won the first but didn't put it on the scoreboard, Geelong the second but inaccurate, Hawks the third but inaccurate.

It could come down to who kicks straightest - or how much extra Geelong have in the tank from having Ablett, Bartel and Chapman spending considerable time in the forward line.

Another nailbiting game between these 2 clubs. Sounds like Hawthorn are kicking themselves out of it though. Can't waste good chances against Geelong.

"He gets an extraordinary amount of high tackle free kicks Joel Selwood!" - Michael Christian.

It's because everyone can see he ducks his head at the right time other than the umpire.

Was very noticeable last week.

Why are the games between Hawks and Cats always close! Its like Sydney and WCE all over again; no matter the form of any particular team, its always close (although both teams today in good form, but still.)
