Lockyer24 is a bit harsh on Seedsman, but if Fasolo is to play, either Seedsman or Buckley has to go. Suddenly our bench looks solid, and demoting players is increasingly difficult. Seedsman performed well against Brisbane, while Fasolo has played a small forward role and is a strong build. Funnily enough, Sinclair's inclusion neems automatic, even against a mature bodied team.

I watched a fair bit of the Adelaide thumping of Geelong last week, and one of the only players Geelong effectively shut down was Dangerfield, and it seemed as if Taylor Hunt had the job for the majority of the match, so if anyone is to take Pendlebury or Swan (more likely Pendles) then Hunt will be the man I believe.

While I respect what Geelong have done in recent years, some of the shit that was said after the Grand Final last year (and some on the field stuff) really makes me hate them with a passion now, so I hope we can severely dent their top four chances on Friday.

If we win, we go to 6-2, while they sit back on 4-4, that's a massive gap to have over them at this time of year, especially given there's plenty of other sides above both of us on the ladder at the moment.

We don't exactly "need" the win, but my god I'd love it, it would really put a few of those arrogant pricks back on their arses, at least for a while.

Their supporters are too. Us coming off a 10 goal win, and them a 10 goal loss, apparently if they bring their A game they will win by 10 goals this week. What a roller coaster.

Supremely confident that we will win on Friday, and win comfortably...

We are slowly getting better and better, with inclusions such as Thomas and Jolly, and the form of Beams, Sidey and Swan I think Friday is the perfect time to make a statement...

What were some stuff they said on field?
Most of what was said is rumour and innuendo, but it is publicly known that Scarlett berated Dawes, Didak and Cloke several times in the last quarter of the game.

Then Scarlett said what he said on the doco, just adding to his arrogance.

For a great player, he surely is a bit of a prick of a bloke it seems, especially when it comes to sportsmanship.

There are also rumours of what other Geelong players said at the final siren, and in that last quarter, but most hasn't been confirmed.

The Geelong players last year reminded me of Brisbane after their 2003 win, and we all know what has happened to that mob since then.

Correct Matty, Taylor Hunt has been tagging-in addition to Dangerfield took Black a couple of weeks before, and Mitchell a couple of weeks before that. Expect he will probably go to Pendlebury given the good form Scott is in and how damaging he is.

Really want Goldy to go Scarlett now.

Will give him something to talk about all night long.

Everyone knows Scarlett is a w***er.

I also remember hearing somewhere that Bartel gave Dawes a bump after kicking a goal because they weren't happy about the way Dawes was going about it  Don't know why considering he always gets held and scragged and Geelongs defenders happen to be experts at that.

Not sure why so many of you are so confident.

I get the feeling Geelong made a similar pact after the 2010 Prelim to the Hawthorn one they made after 2008 GF.

I just don't think they made it public. Just a gut feeling.

Geelong are going to attack this game much much harder than most of you think. I really hope the boys are ready.

I agree with this, the game will be far from easy and there will be points when we are not in control. Both teams have weaknesses at the moment and to me that says there will be swings of momentum throughout the game, whoever takes their chances when they have the flow will win the game. The problem I see with this is we don't have a quality forward line at the moment, so we will need Beams, Pendles, Thomas, Swan and Sidebottom to chip in with a few goals, it would also be a nice time for Didak to find some goalkicking form.
If Scarlett doesn't play then we are rightful favorites and have a great show, if he does play then I think it is 50-50.
It would be great if Scarlett doesn't play and Goldsack went to Enright.
Very interested to see how Beams goes this week against Selwood. Beams has been playing a bigportion of midfield time against the oppositions ball magnets lately and he has been doing a great job, but the task is harder this week after Black, Boyd and Watson he now gets one of the best midfielders in the game.
The second most interesting thing for me this week will be how Daisy returns. He has been relatively poor this season considering his own lofty standards, and we need people to be talking about Pendles, Swan AND Daisy again, not just Pendles and Swan.

Lastly, does anyone else feel a lot safer watching our team when Maxy is in the kind of form he has been in this year? He just looks like he is so much fitter, being able to help third man up, but also beating his opponent one on one and providing rebound (kicking was poor last week though!!). I'm not sure he has played too many great games against Geelong, but it would be a good time to pull out a GF1 2010 type game.

At the end of the day they could make a pact every time they lose, it's has been that infrequent.
We should make a pact to never lose another match.
If that in fact has any real world effect.

Much has been made about Geelong's pact.
It gets oxygen each time they beat Hawthorn.
If it were that easy every side would do it.;)

I think you are right Ed their season hangs in the balance and it may well get down this match for them,I don,t think they will be able to beat Carlton who I feel will be much too fast for them,I think they can afford 2 or maybe 3 more losses for the season I also can,t see them the Bombers atm either.

They have been struggling for form all season and I think this match against us may tell the story whether they will come up or not this season,I feel it will be much harder for them and to be truthful also for us to win this season I think atm it is a very even comp and there 5 or maybe 6 sides that can win it.

I think it will take 16 wins to get in the 4 this year and I don,t think anyone is going to win 20 this season it is really tight over the course of the next 2 months we have some massive games coming up some real 8 pointers the one good thing for us is that we are going well now and we are a chance against them all and that includes the Cats.

Yep, Goldy has to take the forward tag on Scarlett, because if we can cut his influence out of the game we are almost certain to win. One of the reasons the Cats were so bad last week was because their two champs, Scarlett and Bartel didn't play.

If Goldy restricts Scarlett's run and movement off half back, and Clarke goes to Bartel and follows him everywhere, we should win this game.

I'm never confident coming up against Geelong.
The majority of the time we play them they seem to surprise us from the onset with intensity and we tend to go into our shells. The first quarter will be by far the most important, from memory the only times we've beat them since about '06 is when we've blown em away in the first.

I think Ed might be onto something with his comment about the Cats making a pact never to lose to us while their champs are playing that would not surprise me in the least,I think we let them get too much of an advantage over us last year in rd 24 it cost us any reasonable chance of winning last yr we may have been hurting by that stage of the season but the Cats from then on knew they had us.

The 1st match last season they were still unsure whether or not they could beat us but it gave them confidence but I did feel we could turn it around later if all went well and we remained focused but I did not fell the same after the last rd we were F----- then.

No they wouldn't because you then need ot be able to back it up.

Geelong are good enough to back it up.

I dont think Friday's game is going ot be close either. One team is going to get a hold of the other.

I think my point was that it's easy to make these pacts when you have an awesome side to back it up.

It is not as though Geelong have been getting frequently beaten by any sides.

I am confident this week.I think the hurt we have experienced due to geelong will see us smash them to pieces.Whether they made a pact or not we aren't hawthorn. How do u know after last year we didnt make a pact to never lose to them again???I think essendon and carlton will beat them quite comfortably. And i hate essendon and carlton.Otto and lingy are massive losses for geelong.Bigger than expected i think.

Clarke goes to Bartel and follows him everywhere, we should win this game.

Buckley will have to be at his best this game in the coaches box.

Throwing Clarke onto Bartel could work but I get the feeling that Scott will throw Bartel onto Swan to try and nullify his game,in the same way Lingy did in the GF,while also hurting us with his attacking side.
He is a more than capable player in their forward line.
We all know how well he reads the play.
If Swan goes forward to try and shake the tag, Bartel is also more than capable of playing as a defender.

If we make Clarke go with Bartel, and Bartel tries to run with Swan, that leaves a spare Cat around the stoppages and that is one thing we can't allow as they are too good a side to leave them a man up around the ball.

Bear with me because I can see how a Bartel Swan match up would play out in my head, but putting it in writing may prove harder.

What Swan would need to do is push forward whenever Bartel goes to him. If Bartel stays with him it's a win for us because even without Swan in the middle I'd back in the other boys to have the ascendency considering what the Crows were able to do to the Cats minus Bartel last week.

With that in mind Scott (unlike crazy Vossy who left Raines on Swan in the forward 50) will have a forward match up for him which would allow Bartel to push back into the midfield. I'd guess that this player would be Josh Hunt. If that's the case and Hunt takes Swan when he's forward then Swanny needs to get on his bike and play as a high half forward and try to lose Hunt in traffic and also Bartel on the transition from forward to midfield.

The key to it is Swanny realizing who his man is at any given time and if he's able to suss that out we should be sweet.

I'm confident and I think the boys are more than ready.

I do think they also made a pact. Just like what was said in another thread 'The Collingwood Effect' happens to all teams.

I'd be happy with that.
While Hunt has the body strenght to go with 1 on 1 with Swan, Dane would lose him in and around traffic.
