Game Day AFL Round 9 - Collingwood vs Sydney Matchday & Postmatch Discussion.

Reid's kicking (and handballs against Sydney) has not been the weapon throughout this season that it is when he is at his best. However, there is probably some validity in your 'melodramatic' criticism. I had little time to comment on this game so possibly did not totally think through my comments. Having said that, there were so many players who played ordinary games or displayed sub-standard skills, singling out players for criticism was a bit of a raffle.

Very true Q. For the record I think your contributuons to this board are of the highest calibre and I enjoy reading them. I think we are all struggling with the result on Friday night. A road trip next week might just be the tonic the boys need to turn this season around.

I also consider your 'side by side' comments as almost beyond criticism. I think we'd all like to feel supportive of the team and club through the worst as well as the best of times, but after a loss such as against Sydney, our emotions overcome that side of us that wants to support the club through the worst of times. This is not the first time that your loyalty to the club has made me feel a bit guilty and will not be the last.

Keep plugging away, jmac70. Your words may seem difficult to digest after a bad loss, but they do remind us of the true meaning of supporting a team.

Thanks Q. Being a Woodsman is not meant to be easy but rest assured we will triumph again soon.

Before the succession plan we implemented in 2009 Mick had done nothing of note at our club besides the 2 GF loses. Once the plan was announced he suddenly went out and got ruckman and an inside mid that fans had been asking for for years. Some would say that it was his plan but I and others would say that he knew he had limited time and needed to win a flag before he left. I dont think we would of been premiers in 2010 without the succession plan in place.

Lets just do the same every year. A-grade rucks and mids are not just waiting for us to pick them up at the end of each season.

If Jolly's wife didnt need her family in Melbourne and Ross Lyon didnt leave Luke Ball on the bench for more than half of the 09 Grand Final we would not have recruited either of them.

do you want me to share your personal message you sent to my inbox after the loss to Sydney on Friday night :p

Hypocritical aren't we Micky
Why because you were gutless and didn't respond you weak prick?

Now how about you get over the fact that you can't beat us and stop living off other teams beating us;)

Mick is good at the things you noted (team spirit and getting the boys playing for him and each other) but he also lacks in other areas such as stubbornness, no plan B, etc.

I still think it was the right call to get rid of him, as he and our club needed a change. I don't think we would be doing any better with him at the helm right now. In 2011 the game plan was worked out and we were lucky to make the GF as we should of lost the PF.

Now as I said I think it was the correct call getting rid of Mick, but I don't know if getting Bucks was the correct call. We could of got someone else more experienced if we wanted a change.

The players aren't playing for bucks atm and I don't know if they ever will, we have other issues like injuries but our main problem is the hard work from the players isn't there.
Thx for the reply, interesting readings... It just one of those questionsbZt will never be answered .... Would mick have won a cople more?

Nnnaaaaa .. Mick is a gun, he will be sadly lost at the Pies
To remove a coach that was clearly on the path to success was wrong, stupid wrong
(to take a average team to 3 GF's in 10 years was a big effort)

Buckley was unproven ... Bottom line, bad decision

Ill say it again, if this all goes south .. Bucks AND Eddie should go for creating this appalling mess.
Collingwood have to rebuild again now .. Lucky to see another cup in the next 15 years

So a player not up to AFL standard negated Joel Selwood, Nick Dal Santo, David Mundy and Josh Kennedy out of the game?

Cool, all I needed to know.

Didn't he also mind Mitchell when we played the Hawks?
