Oh, I was wondering where the home-town umpiring went... two BS decisions in the space of 60 seconds.

EDIT: 30 seconds after that... "Webster, almost held with out it" as she's dragged down without the ball - and no free kick.
Yep, some of the umpiring decisions are absurd. Cats defender goes in hard for the ball and is immediately jumped on and is pinged for holding the ball or dragging the ball in, neither of which she did.

Then you have Suns players take one or two players on, get tackled, not even look to attempt to get rid of it and it's called a ball up.

Not the reason we're losing of course, but the lack of consistency is abysmal.

Need to upgrade on Rankin, Caris, Ivey, Crockett-Grills, McWilliams & to a lesser extent Keryk.
Been in the team since it's inception and none have gotten any better.
Will get games as we don't have depth but their in the team to provide experience but all to often their the ones to go missing or make crucial errors.

Yes Caris has been around since our first season, but not sure she's in the side to provide experience - she's a late convert to AFL having played netball growing up and she's a developing ruck. She's got the height, but she doesn't look to have the strength to compete against the bigger bodied players

I was hopeful she was going to have last year in the VFLW to work on her ruck craft, but we added Liv Fuller to the list who edged our Caris as the preferred option - so we found one young ruck who it looks like we may be able to develop a midfield around, but it may have come at the cost of developing the other young ruck

The bigger issue I see with Caris is a lack of versatility though - she doesn't really show an ability to go forward, take a mark or be a presence as a tall when she's not in the ruck. She needs to add to her game, otherwise her development is going to stall (more than it kinda already has)

Saw it a bit in the 2nd quarter - ball in our forward line, our players didn't have the ball & were tackled or clearly pushed in the back, but nothing

Ball goes up the other end and some soft free kicks for similar get called

It's not why we're losing and won't be why we're not in the match - but damn it's frustrating to see a lack of consistency

Absolutely - we've been our worst enemy. But take one or two of those bodgy calls out and we might've been in this (even if we didn't deserve to be).

I don't think the Cats are as bad as this nor the Suns as good.

I agree with her lack of versatility, but it's her skills and lack of footy smarts that concern me more.
