The free against Scheer is the one annoying me most - I'm curious what she did or what the umpire expected her to do

When she knew she wasn't going to be in the contest she stopped, the Dogs player had an uncontested chance to take the mark but dropped it cold before bumping in Scheer - the umpire rewarded the WB players inability to hold a mark

The trip 35m out and the obvious throw about 15m out were even more annoying for mine.

Goodness knows we've played like rubbish but to miss blindingly obvious frees like that within scoring distance (or anywhere) just really rubs me when it's not the case down the other end.

Hey Cats fans. Just wondering why Stephanie Williams can't get a game? She showed glimpses last season and would have thought she would be playing in this side.

Don't know if this has something to do with it, but she was playing forward last season and she played off half back last week in the VFLW, and is named there again tomorrow, so maybe they're trying to get her used to playing in defence at the lower level.

I have low expectations of this group but for 3 quarters tonight they didn't even come close to meeting them.

It's losses like that that make me wonder if this group of players is going anywhere, ever.
The club looked utterly defeated at half time.

Our ball-handling was sub-standard; basic fumbling errors, players not keeping their eye on the ball, or spending it before they had it.
Not handling pressure.

The umpiring wasn't much better, it was terrible and unfortunately we were on the shitty end of bad decisions more often than not, one decision against Scheer in the middle directly lead to a goal, while we were robbed of what should have been a 50m penalty when Darby was encroached on the mark - somehow she ended up being done for holding the ball, it was ridiculous, especially as the umpires had paid a similar 50m penalty in the 1st quarter against Kearns.

Regardless of crap umpiring though, we were horrible and needed no further handicap to lose the game all by ourselves; general decision-making was either poor or very predictable, execution was regularly poor (though probably no poorer than usual).

What a sad state of affairs when we're expecting a visibly hampered 18yo Georgie Prespakis to put in a night's work in the middle against the likes of Blackburn and Lamb; she should've had a night off.

Amy McDonald was tenacious as always; I've said it before but when the ball is on the deck in traffic there is none better. In a team of fumblers she is somehow immune to the pandemic.

Chloe Scheer probably doesn't have the tank to run out a whole match in the middle but it might be worth giving her a good 5-10 minutes in there each quarter moving forward; trouble is she is so valuable to us forward of the contest; we really need to clone her. She was good.

If I wanted to focus on individuals who played poor games or who regularly made poor decisions and executed badly then my post would be a loooot longer.

I was at work and could only watch intermittently - didn't see those ones, but the ones I saw that annoyed me

Our sloppiness was frustrating tonight - 2nd quarter before the Dogs first goal, I think it was McDonald who kicked the ball off the ground & it went out of bounds untouched near the interchange bench. I can't be certain but it looked like McWilliams who was our closest but when she wasn't going to get to the ball before it went out, she seemed to head to the bench or back to the forward line - with the last touch out of the bounds rule it was clearly going to be a free kick to WB but no one bothered to get close to the mark. That ended up being an easy extra 10/15m gained before a long kick forward

That's not on the umpire and surely not on the coaches, but purely on the gals on the field where that seemed a lapse in attention or they switched off - I'd hope that passage is pointed out during match review because there's such an easy fix to that error

I feel gutted for the girls .

I feel at times the team too defensive too we are 3-4 goals down .
We need to add another forward that can be dangerous.

I don't like to complane about the umps but they can't see a throw right in front of Thier faces.

AVG losing margin 10 points .
Signs much better but reward for effort I hope they win another game soon .

That was exceptionally dumb play for a player of Phoebe McWilliams experience, I couldnt believe my eyes.

She had a strong 2nd half - kicked her 7th goal for the year too which has equalled her two best career years at GWS Giants.
But that play you highlighted was infuriating.

I only really saw the 2nd q, but during that period it felt we barely put 2 clean possessions together. Hard to watch. A few times I saw players almost give up on the ball. On a positive, I do like Kearns. She can really influence a contest and get things happening.

Kearns is like basically everyone on the team bar a handful of players - I liked periods of her play too StandUp, but her first quarter was woeful - probably only Amy McDonald, Maddy McMahon and Chloe Scheer contributed more good than bad - it's not enough. I've already had a moan about it, but that I don't think I've ever seen so many fumbles as I did tonight in one game, it was atrocious.

Hey Cats fans. Just wondering why Stephanie Williams can't get a game? She showed glimpses last season and would have thought she would be playing in this side.

She looked very raw last year, at least at AFLW level - watching her live, she was one I said we should try to pump games into as it would help in her development. But I could also understand why she was dropped from the team & more of a focus in the VFLW, as her rawness also showed she was somewhat out of her depth

It seems that over the pre-season she was switched to more of a defensive role, and watching some highlights of last weeks VFLW, it seemed she was giving us some run from the backline - similar to what we saw from her at AFLW last season where she doesn't mind putting the ball under the arm and using her speed, but last week she seemed to have a better understanding of how to use her speed and what her next move would be compared with last year where she seemed to move quicker than she knew what to do or without a clear idea of the next option

Hopefully she has a good showing in the VFLW this weekend and she's in with as shot for a few matches late in the season - we've seen what our more "experienced" players have to offer and considering we're not in finals contention, it's probably a good time to see what some of these younger players can offer

It may be a slightly strange comparison, but I feel like there's some similarities between Williams last year and what we saw from Kearns earlier this season, especially with ball in hand - both are quick, seem to have a love for the contest but in general play there was a bit unknown what to do once in the open with the ball and if they had to take a bounce, neither seemed that comfortable with it

Yeah, I was going off a small sample of the actual game. Noticed a good contested possession and clever kick to advantage which was literally the sole highlight of the whole period of the game I watched.
