Well we only got 11 free kicks for the night, so thinking it was a bit much to expect to have received valid free kicks along with late game make-up ones...

I thought the holding the ball rule changed so that players could be spun 360, but once spun beyond that it's deemed sufficient opportunity to have disposed of the ball

It surely seems like Nina spun one of the Dogs players 3 or 4 times in a single tackle and nothing

Same with the players who throw the ball up while they're being slung in a tackle in a vain attempt to get a kick and not hit their foot. I think we got pinged the week prior for something similar, but our player actually got her boot to the ball - none of the Bulldogs players did - at least not in that clip.

The one where Nina tackled someone 20m out in the pocket which wasn't shown in that clip was probably the worst of the lot.

Barber or Darby to be #1 ruck - though Fuller is an emergency

Maguire seems to be getting a number of chances this year but not sure she's really impressed in any of them, and hoping that with Friswell it's more a managed thing rather than just being omitted

I wonder if Remmos is injured? Surely she'd be worth having a look at ahead of Maguire at this stage ...

Remmos has been playing in the VFLW so she's not injured.

Remmos has played both our VFLW matches & is named in our round 3 match, but yet to break into the bests - reading the match reviews from our first couple of matches she wasn't even mentioned in either write-up

Not sure if she's fallen out of favour or what the deal is - but with a couple of rounds to go & finals out of the question, surely we'd look at players like Remmos, Williams, Clarke & even Gunjaca to see what they have to offer going forward

Remmos and Williams have been playing down back in the VFLW so maybe they haven't seen much of it. Williams was also a late withdrawal last week for some reason, but she's back this week.

We're very young in our AFLW midfield, and while it looks promising for future years if they can develop together, wonder if we can make some slight changes in that area now which would then us to maybe add in the likes of Williams or Remmos down back

One such change I wouldn't mind seeing for our last couple of matches this season is switching the rules for a maligned player in Keryk - she's been given the odd game in the guts in the past and has shown she's capable of finding the ball & playing a more attacking role. At 26 & 169cm, she's in the right bracket to help in the guts and take pressure of younger & less experienced teammates

In turn it also opens up a role for say Williams or Remmos down back

Rankin is another one who's spot should be put under the spotlight

interesting, thanks for the clarification winty and C09.

cats_09 you are spot-on, time to start cycling through the list to see who is worth persisting with moving forward.

Claudia Gunjaca showed some vigor in her 3 AFLW games; is she to be a back-up at best? If she doesn't get exposure at the level then she will be.

I have a lot of time for Georgia Clarke and think she has a bright future in the game should she want to persist; she is still only 21 years old and taller players can take time to develop their craft - Clarke has barely had an opportunity this year and really needs further development. She dominated at VFLW level as a 20 year old; time to level her up.

Phoebe McWilliams has very admirably held her own at FF to date; 7 goals is a reasonable return for a player of her seniority; she shouldn't have to be holding down the entire show inside the F50 (and she hasn't had to; to her credit Chloe Scheer has provided plenty of support).

But Clarke should be playing this week. IMO.

Remodelling Steph Williams as a half-back flanker is such a Geelong post-2011 concept.

I am guilty of actually thinking Keryk was older than she is - at 26 she still has plenty of football ahead of her, and pound-for-pound she has been right up there with our best-performed footballers in the club's short history - she's been stellar this year yet again (and yes I did question her spot in the side pre-season; she has been integral).
Why shouldn't she go into the middle; I think that is a solid idea.

I've been a little bit critical of Georgie Rankin in the past but I reckon she has been pretty solid this year, no better or worse than most, and she is definitely still improving as a footballer. She's still only in her mid-20s and is reputedly very fit; I think her actual football is steadily improving too.
I was very willing to write her off but for mine she's dug in.

We should absolutely be weighing up this current list against our 2023 ambitions right now.
