I thought Gardner was front, second from the left in the black singlet

Maybe someone needs to message the club and ask for the names of the players in order

was just about to say the same thing; Gardiner front row, 2nd from left, black singlet sitting next to Georgia Clarke .. agree with TimmyG21 that it’s Amy Mc sitting next to Steph Williams, too..

still not positive who Lime Green is though!

Aaron Black has retired from VFL but will be continuing as an assistant coach:

Looking a little further down the road, Black will continue to make use of his leadership skills in a coaching role and return to local footy.

“I’m still assistant coach for the AFLW so I’ll still be floating about,” he said.

“I’ll play with Modewarre next year locally and go from there.”

“My wife and I have our own business that we are about to open up down in Torquay, it’s just exciting times really.”

I'm getting more positive that lime green is Carly Remmos - photo from training the other night, and while no lime green, there does appear similarities

And have we missed an announcement regarding Darby, because she appears in half a dozen or so images from training

And there's a few solo photos that include the following description

a returning Darby would be handy in giving us a bit more flexibility with regards to the 2nd ruck role - ideally we’d avoid giving Liv Barber relief ruck minutes.
Georgia Clarke and Barber are my preferred KFs for the upcoming season, but it’d be nice to have options.

Remmos = lime green firming as favourite to solve the biggest pre-season mystery in living memory ……

This would explain why Kate Darby has popped up in so many photos recently....

In other news at Kardinia Park, former player Kate Darby is working with the Cats as a train-on player this pre-season.

The key forward sat out the 2021 season, having given birth to Ella in March.

I thought it was something like that and we could do worse than have a player like Darby waiting in the wings should they be called upon

How does the "train on player" rule work? I am confused with this rule. Sorry that I have no idea haha
Basically, you hope you never need it because this was the requirements in 2020 for a train on player to become eligible to play:

Recently, the AFL adopted a new rule allowing clubs who have players ruled out for the season to sign replacement players to train with them full-time.

However, they will not be available for selection unless the side has only 22 fit players left.

Thank you for that.. K

Thank you for the reply xx

little grab with Chantel Emonson on the club's site ..

I think I was a little nonplussed with the news of her arrival at first; I hadn't really heard of her prior to her signing with Geelong, and I was still grumpy about Purcell's departure at the time.

Having had a chance to look at her on the track however, I've come around to the possibility that she might be a very handy addition.

First of all with 22 senior games under her belt and at the age of 28 she goes some way to filling a list demographic gap.
But more than that; her foot skills are SILK, absolute text book stuff - hopefully she gets a bit of the pill during the season because she's the one you want with the ball in her hand and a moment to sum things up.

Might not fill the Purcell boots, but she will hopefully be a really great replacement for Denby Taylor, who was also a half-back with very neat foot skills.

Lowther: Consistency the Key
AFLW senior coach Dan Lowther is looking for greater consistency from his playing group as they head into a new season
By Phoebe McWilliams

Newly-appointed AFLW senior coach Dan Lowther is looking for greater consistency from his playing group as he heads into his first pre-season at the helm.

Speaking at training last Thursday night, Lowther believes that his players are already on the right track.

“I’m just looking forward to some consistency, to be fair,” said Lowther.

“The energy the girls have shown over the last few months, just wanting to get better, has been really positive.

“Change has brought new faces and hopefully those new faces can bring all Cats fans and the players some consistency and some good performances.”

Nine new Cats were added to the AFLW squad during the off season and Lowther explained that his coaching group were searching for a particular type of player.

“What we’ve been lacking probably in the past is a bit of energy... competitive players that complement the rest of the group," he said.

“So we’ve really been strategic in looking for those types of players.”

Lowther believes these additions will provide support to the young talent Geelong brought in through the draft, such as youngsters Georgie Prespakis, Zali Friswell and Gabbi Featherston.

“We think that through the draft and getting the best talent mixed with some combative players has really helped our plan and our group going forward.”

Vice-captain Jordan Ivey is also excited by what the nine new players will bring to the mix.

“(It) just looks like our team has completely changed to be honest, which is really exciting,” said Ivey.

“We’ve got girls with different skills and talents, and different experience as well.

“I think it will bring a different dimension to our team and I think we will be really competitive coming up this year.”

Geelong’s AFLW team is currently training twice a week as part of their two-week induction period.

Big effort from Rachel Kearns to relocate to Australia and quarantine all for a crack at making it in a sport she's never played competitively before.

I can't imagine the financial lure would have been all that enticing (hopefully/presumably the club would set her up with a job while she's here? No?); gotta admire a sportsperson willing to go out of their comfort zone to test themselves in such a fashion.

Really hope she goes well.

also, I knew she played Gaelic Footy, but just googled her and found her scoring a lazy hat-trick in Whatever Irish soccer comp this is:
