I was told he was spotted at Sydney airport yesterday and the trip could have been anything. But he went to them this time not the other way round. 3rd meeting. This really has the AFLs stench all over it.

Our biggest enemy at the moment is ourselves. Time is aplenty and it’s not what we want.

Remember when Brad Scott's all but announced Gaff was coming to us at the bnf then a few days later he flew to Melbourne to say thanks but no thanks.

Obv that's what Clarkos doing by talking to gws again.

It's happening!

Wouldn't go all deadline on Clarkson but from next week we need to start canvasing other candidates.

The ambassador money getting mentioned, don't see how it can be interpreted anything other than the AFL doing a backflip.

I hope this thread shows ITK posts and positive media reports need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Yes... without his manager kind of covers it.
To alleviate concerns, it may have very well been a respect trip to tell them in person he’s not committed. He’s definitely not signed anything.

With Yzes comments this week I’d be alerted but not alarmed by this.

FWIW I’m still being told we’re in the box seat as I’m sure others are as well.

Would he fly there on his own to tell them no in person? Or it could be someone he wants as part of the team at North is currently at GWS!!

People scoffed but the Ziebull comments about setting an ultimatum might actually be on the money.

One thing this club has excelled at in the 13 years has been standing with roses in one hand and our dick in the other trying to woo "the one".

Buckley, Cook, Martin, Gaff, Kelly.

Excluding Cook there we were allowing our targets unlimited consideration time and counter-offering ourselves up and up while blocking ourselves from pursuing alternative paths when there was a natural time to cut and run.

I hope this is all smokescreen and the club really have him wrapt up because otherwise we could be costing ourselves critical time to investigate other candidates, appoint other positions and start re-signing some of our most important players. He's been a great coach but in a couple of weeks a 7/10 coach will be a lot better than no coach.

As tazaa said time is the enemy who has ****ed time and again the last decade.

Or it could be that he has accepted the job there in principal and the will thrash the details later.

I think people have invested too much into Clarkson. AFL has been dumping a dumptruck full of cash on that joint for a decade, this ambassador money change at the last minute is obviously something that will benefit GWS and not us.

I like the idea of Clarkson but I am okay with going for someone else, the dude has been paid a million dollars this year not to coach Hawthorn who have gone with some rookie, people have gone a bit nutty on Clarko.

I am not 100% sure IF we get Clarkson will we get the best option, I just want someone who is going to drill in the basics into the players and have some kind of obvious structure we can see with our eyes. That really isn't a huge expectation.
