What would you accept if you’re Clarko - example /
Now GWS $1.3 million under soft cap plus POSSIBLY $300k ambassador and the $300k is not guaranteed and CANNOT be put in his contract or
NMFC $1.6 guaranteed under the soft cap.
Why wouldn’t the $300k not be guaranteed?

The ambassador payment may be guaranteed surreptitiously by the AFL, that's what people are saying, which makes your point moot.

Weird, some people. He can’t be ours until we see him in the polo with the contract signed. But any kite flown via the media that favours GWS and he is 100% theirs.

Nothing is done until it’s done. Coaching us, coaching them, coaching another club, taking another year out are all still live outcomes.

People who post that hes ours and we just need to patient are reflecting what they’ve been told from inside the club. Everyone says the club is confident so that all lines up. It might not mean their confidence is well founded in the end, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Nothing to be done except wait and see. Coming on here and whining that it’s over before it is, that’s way more annoying to me than what may or may not be misplaced confidence.

There's a world where Clarko goes you know what, if I was coaching next year it'd be at North, but I've decided to take another year, or I've been offered a role at some big US college where I spend time with all their elite programs and get an MBA while I do it, I thought it wasn't going to happen but I just got the call from the big boss in Pennsylvania.

It really, really isn’t just us, and every time is different. Happy to wait and see.
Every time has an extraordinary set of events sure a few times could be unlucky but how many other clubs struggle with these targets as much as we seem to

I'd be staggered if this was solely about coin for Clarko. He wants to build his legacy and confirm himself as the greatest coach of all time.
There's a romanticism of him doing that at North without the under the table cash handouts from head office. I still think he's coming home.

Because the AFL still have to approve it hence you cannot put it in the contract - I even just heard Gil say that exact thing in the news - are you thick?

Mate I think you're the one being thick. To be fair him meeting GWS is neither here nor there for me but don't act like the AFL aren't capable of some backstage dealing.

Didn’t we have a whole thing a week ago that the money thing was bullshit and Clarko’s drive is getting the right team together?

The guy is interviewing for two jobs. GWS are getting to the end of their process with him, we’ve just started. Literally two days ago both our camp and his said we had made a very good start. He’s a serious guy following the process, he’s not going to jump until he’s gone the path with us too.

The AFL shot down the free handout prior to signing, they didn’t have to. They’ve indicated an avenue both clubs have but if you think the AFL would assure it to GWS they would just as easily assure it to us, let’s not forget we’re the ones after assistance and we’re also the one with a community program in place in The Huddle we could use.
All good points. Doesn't fit in with the ITK narrative that it's a done deal, he's agreed verbally, and we just need to sort out the contract details before announcing. Obviously the first supposed announcement date of "before the Swans game" will pass shortly.

Most of us have been burnt too much before. In the end there's always a reason why North are not the choice.

Calm!

I think money would be an issue with what he can spend on his support staff.

He and/or his manager have come out and said the reports of $1.6 were bollocks.

They have just said the avenue is open. I would expect he’d know the outcome of the ambassador payment application before he signs.

So **** off with the “thick” comments

If we are banking on that not being approved as security that he will sign with us then you are wonderfully naive.

Like Richmond finding a puma bag of $ behind the couch at the last minute.

Why would the AFL announce that ambassador payments could be possible sure they may give the impression they won’t be directly paying it but in effect as their funding of GWS is greater than ours the money is coming from them.

How do they fund it with their brilliant membership? Ticket sales? Merch?

Buddy at North would be so weird.

Still hate the bloke for pushing our defenders illegally, getting away with cheapies, kicking 13 on us but if he comes to North....

Nah don't see it happening unless Clarko is done deal then maybe...

Clarko garden gnomes are the next big thing in the west of Sydney.
