Buddy at North would be so weird.

Still hate the bloke for pushing our defenders illegally, getting away with cheapies, kicking 13 on us but if he comes to North....

Nah don't see it happening unless Clarko is done deal then maybe...
I'd love it

They have just said the avenue is open. I would expect he’d know the outcome of the ambassador payment application before he signs.

So * off with the “thick” comments

If we are banking on that not being approved as security that he will sign with us then you are wonderfully naive.

Like Richmond finding a puma bag of $ behind the couch at the last minute.

Why would the AFL announce that ambassador payments could be possible sure they may give the impression they won’t be directly paying it but in effect as their funding of GWS is greater than ours the money is coming from them.

How do they fund it with their brilliant membership? Ticket sales? Merch?
The announcement about ambassador payments may have just been a result of the increased dialogue around it. More of a clarification than anything. The timing is the dodgy part, but honestly I wouldn't read too much into it.

If we land buddy we HAVE to make it our aim to get him to 14 goals against another team.

As an aside, let's not go to war with each other tonight, and that's a mod request. No abuse. Nothing has changed. He's not turned down GWS so it makes total sense they're still talking. You'll get all the copium you'll need when he fairly meets us again next week.

Just looked up BBL - I didn't want to search for it on my work phone.

Firstly, not what I was expecting.

Secondly, do you think they'd offer a discount if there was more than one person wanting the procedure? Asking for a friend.
We can split the butt cheek implants in half and split the bill, I think

I think money would be an issue with what he can spend on his support staff.

He and/or his manager have come out and said the reports of $1.6 were bollocks.
We have cash reserves in the bank and will have room in the soft cap as we'll stop paying former coaches and will clear the decks of assistants. There'll be as much soft cap room as anyone. Money is not an object

Still don’t want Franklin
Doesn’t he want to be a lion ?

I’m either way happy if he comes cool if he doesn’t

No new news other than what I posted earlier today in that this weeks window dressing meetings have pushed back any announcement but I have no info on a timeline other than confirming he has verbally agreed to coach us. The problem for GWS is for instance they may only be able to offer say $1.2 under the soft cap and need the ambassador payment to top up - we can offer say $1.6 if needed so we are already in front before any extra payment. Fact is that extra payment can only come if approved AFTER the contact is signed. Clearly GWS know that and tried to get in early. They clearly cannot offer what we can purely under the soft cap / therefore advantage North.

Clarko strikes me as a man of integrity. Not someone who would play two parties against each other trying to extract an extra 100k out of them. So I’m scratching my head trying to come up under what logic does a man who has given a verbal agreement (in other words has given his word) would be flying to Sydney for a 4th meeting?

Other than to tell them No, which could have been done over the phone or Zoom, I’m stumped as to how that’s not telling us that it’s not happening.

All I can think of is perhaps the negotiations have hit a stumbling block and he wanted to tell GWS he’s still in play and let’s continue the process.

Either way, unfortunately the verbal agreement theory is now officially out the window for mine. At best we are still in with a chance but nowhere near done.

And as much as the Ziebull cops a lot of flack here, he’s not wrong. Given we aren’t talking to other coaches and Clarko is our only target at the moment, this can’t stay like that indefinitely. At some point we will need a plan B and we must tell him when that point is
