I moved to Grindelwald & it's the perfect lifestyle for me, Beautiful views of the Tamar Valley when I go running in the morning,Enough land to have planted plenty of fruit tree's & veggies etc.

Life is pretty good down here.
Grindelwald is a lovely area. I used to live nearby. Unfortunately not as much work there as other states, especially in certain industries. The suburbs across the river have pretty high levels of unemployment.

Very naive response. The advice from CMO's was changing daily. Multiple times a day in fact, information was imperfect.
The info in and out of the WHO was ever changing. Our governments nationwide are operating on the advice of Chief Medical Officers who consult weekly with the WHO. We aren't going rogue

Would you like a shot at sitting in the big chair and trying to balance effective management of the pandemic, whilst managing and limiting public panic, all the while trying to keep businesses running for as long as possible? Oh and having to formulate quite a few rescue packages and stimulus. There isn't a person on earth who envies Johnson, Trump, Macron, Merkel, Morrison etc etc atm. Not one, and can quite confidently say that those sitting in opposition in those countries likely wouldn't have been faring much better (well maybe the Dems would as Trump is beyond thick). As a global society we are ill equipped to deal with these things once the genie is out of the bottle, we are by nature selfish as a race.

People in the UK have said the same about BoJo and delaying the ban on pubs.

You see, Trump bum sniffing morons like Piers didn't realise Boris was waiting for the Chancellor of the exchequer to announce packages that protected british businesses, including publicans. So that they didn't fire everyone.

Tl;dr

Exactly the same type of responses on Twitter to Morrison.

I know for a fact, from someone on the Coronavirus Unit at Border Protection, Morrison was told to close the Borders weeks ago!

I suppose we will need to wait + see.

Too many people are being complacent. Sydney beaches were closed.

“Bondi Beach has been closed after thousands of people were photographed flouting social distancing advice aimed at slowing the spread of coronavirus.

Sydney's Bronte and Tamarama beaches were also closed on Saturday afternoon, as New South Wales authorities announced lifeguards would now be directed to close any beach in the state where more than 500 people were gathered.”

Yep, Dan Andrews has been wanting to close schools for over a week now and he was hoping to see Morrison get on board. Andrews has now pulled the rug from under him and made the right overdue decision.
As has Gladys here in NSW, except schools are still open.

Andrews starting school holidays early is a good idea.

Yeah so hope it's only 14 days. That would be fine.
If it goes on for months do the kids have to repeat the grade?
What the bloody hell do we do with them in that time?
Can I go fishing?
Can I run my dogs?
What happens to people on the street? People who can't pay their mortgage?
Will bottle shops be open?
Just a few of the thousand questions I'm thinking of.

Agreed ****, lol is my best response

Q: How many trips to the local bottle shop can one man make, with only two arms, in 24 hours?

A: Not enough
That was my stockpiling 😜😜😜

Wine + cat food 🤣🤣🤣

BTW Dan delivers 😉😉😉

I was getting a few texts last weekend along those lines as well.

I heard Victoria and Sydney have had the finger on the emergency button since last weekend. I had good but bad mail in a way guaranteed it was coming told it was going to be last Monday.

Nice, I work at the Country Club in the kitchens, I've got no idea what to expect at the moment & if they will shut down temporarily or not.

It's definitely hard to find a decent & secure job down here that's for sure & I've been fortunate to have been given a job where it's always been busy enough being a casino & having functions etc.

You get that this is why it is so hard?
You cannot make a purely COVID decision as there is an economic impact. And it will be severe for millions of Australians. Believe it or not that matters too.

Or do you think the casual hotel worker in Hobart last month went in to work with COVID just cos he's an arseh*le?
He went in as he has no sick or annual leave entitlements and needed money to put food on the table. Provisions that have now been accounted for with stimulus. Do you think there was a delay is shutting gatherings cos they wanted to infect us all? Now there are temporary measures in place to support businesses.

This is constantly moving feast, and the number of moving parts to take into consideration is substantial.

My point is that it is very easy to sit in the cheap seats (with a bias, don't lie, the fires have given you one) and be critical.
It is much harder to manage a recession borne out of a virus started in another country, with imperfect data.

I don't envy them, and like your fellow man in the street, now is the time to be supportive and come together, not fight and bicker.
This will get a lot worse, and we'll need our government a lot over the coming months.

From what I’ve been told, Morrison was keen to keep up a united front with Federal + State governments. There was also a group of virologists, who were for closing the borders earlier.

The other frightening issue with Coronavirus is that it can survive outside the host for 72 hours on some surfaces, in the right conditions.

Less than a week ago.
Who needs facts in these dark times. Dan has been on the news nightly spruiking the schools staying open. Revisionist BS.

P.S. Don't think he's done a bad job overall. Just correcting one error.

Andrews was doing the team thing by supporting publicly the Feds whilst behind the scenes he was pushing hard to get them to change tune. It has got to the stage where the Premiers of the two biggest states have said enough is enough. They have now taken the course they have been pushing for over a week now which was falling on Morrison's tin ears.

I've been impressed with Andrew's throughout this Crisis so far I find him very transparent. The Federal Government has been a shit storm of conflicting messages & theories !

It's both. They f’ed up by sitting on their hands for so long which f’ed their older population.
France was in the same situation, listed as number three in the countries with cases growing alarmingly.

1. China
2. Italy
3. France

But France has managed to flatten the curve.

So no evidence to support this and no rebuttal to the argument it was contrary to medical advice? Seems a but Mabo for me.

In fact Dan frequently used that as the selling point at his press conferences “our advice is”... “safer to stay open”.

Don’t get me wrong I’m glad they have. Move into lockdown and slow the spread before we head into our winter months (which is why our medical advice hasn’t been as severe as Europe btw). But what you are suggesting is an unfounded mistruth

Whew...we're safe, Kitty!

Oh! I’ve stockpiled the Gin, Vodka, Brandy, Cab Sav + Bubbles.

Our little town’s supermarket had a terrific discount on Quilton in early December, so I stocked up on packets of 36 + am fine for a few months 🤣🤣🤣

Well I received my info directly from Andrew Probyn and he's much closer to what's going on in Canberra than you or I will ever be.

Probably should put a pin in this. I could offer up many more flippant remarks.

Just seems too wishy washy for me but whatevs.

More important we all stay safe. Hope no one on here contracts COVID and we can enjoy more time with our families
