Players like Foley, O'Neil, Ah Chee, Bray Shaw ,Ainsworth & Venables will all need to have good pre-seasons to push for a spot because we pretty much have no depth in case of injury with no Masten, Smith and Mallen.

On the flip side it means at least some of those players will actually get a game next year.

Mature options for the rookie list
Eastland..could be great back up at all tall positions
Luke meadows.not sure how his year has been but last season he was really good and unlucky the hawks didnt pick him up after he spent some of the preseason with them
Mitch podhajski..big mid/forward .a lot to work with

On one hand good move. On the other.. why the heck was he there to begin with. There’s no one that didn’t see a one and done coming the moment we picked him. Need to be going with the high ceiling, issues with work rate/offield issues, types with the rookie list.. not delisted role players. The Tim Kelly/Marlion Picketts of the world.. they aren’t really overly hard to spot and you only need to get one hit every few years for it to be a success. Harley Bennell fits that mould this year but he’s maybe just too loose and injury prone. But if you asked me to choose one out of the next Josh Smith/Chris Masten type or Harley Bennell, it wouldn’t even be a contest.

Shallow draft and we're going after 3 rookies? Curiouser and curiouser.

Is there a delisted player we're looking at maybe #bringbackmasto ? Would be bizarre if we bring in a mature-age player onto the rookie list to replace Smith. While not a first choice mid, if injuries hit Smith was adequate cover and we know what we have.
Disagree that it is a shallow draft. I see a lot of decent value later in the draft.

What the draft is short on is KPP. The draft is also very even from 15 to 35. And then even from 35 to 60.

List needs:

We are pretty good for talls but I would be happy to take a ruck.

We are always needing mids and in this case I would go for 2 (say Ruscoe and an outside rookie), then say Prior at 91, a Tyrone Thorne type as a rookie. Not set on these names but more indicative. Ideally Garcia drops to 91 so we could get 2 mids from the main draft and then balance the rest.

Interesting to see we only have 3 in the 26/27 bracket and only 1 23 year old.

Pretty happy we only have 4 who will be 31 or older come end 2020.

Feeling like it would be worth moving 2 of Duggan, Nelson, Cole and/or Venables to be genuine outside mids.

Could it be just a $$$'s thing? could it be the salary cap is so tight because of the TK deal that they have to sacrifice a "senior rookie"?

We waited until Smith hammered the last nail in the 100th cambodia house until we delisted him. Ruthless.

Maybe he's a really crap Handyman so that's why we cut him?

Bit concerned about our outside run and ability to run out games at the moment. Would be keen to have masten as a rookie and play Beagles prn. IMO if gaff gets injured we will get run over in the 4th

Indeed a big hole in the mids under 24. Its basically Sheed then WAFL development. A lot of faith in Oneil, Brayshaw, Ah Chee and Ainsworth.

No room for a more mature bodies?

Meh if we were relying on Smith then we were munted anyway.

Full confidence O’Neill could have just as much impact in an outside/peripheral role

Three rookie picks isnt too bad, take some punts with mature agers or delistees and if they are not up to scratch then cut them loose at the end of the season

If a member of our NGA doesnt get picked up in both drafts can we then get them as cat B rookies ?
