There was a headline for the HUN today, ( i don't subscribe so i don't know the whole thing ).
Something about land taxes forcing hard working landlords ( got to be the easiest job ever if using a property manager) to sell their property.

Well duh..
If you want to drive prices down, you need to force somebody to do something they don't like.
There are a hell of a lot of Landlords have owned property for a LONG time, and were not affected overly by rate hikes.

Every landlord selling is another home owner maybe first time

Do you rate Perf's train system?

Looking to buy a place I've made it a non negotiable to live within 1km walking distance.

The northern suburbs, you probably won't get your wish.
In a larger city, its pretty impossible for all people to be within a km of a station.
That's why Perth had made their northern railway with less stations and lots of parking.
The local station model means lots of stations, which means lots of stops, which means a slow trip.

Melbourne is far far worse, new/,growing suburbs with 50000 residents and the train station is on the other side of the freeway. it is quicker (but dangerous) most mornings to walk the 3km to the station than drive or catch the bus (which is far slower than a car with all the stops in the suburb).

The original plan was that there would be a rail line through the suburbs that would link back up with the Werribee line but the council and state govt thought a road and more houses were better use for that land. Made worse by the federal government moving hundreds of jobs that were in that suburb into the CBD.....

On Insiders this morning NewsCorps Sam Maiden condemning Albanese for his lack of clarity on his position relating to the ICC arrest warrants for the Israeli PM and HAMAS leader.

Sean Kelly making the excellent point about how any government comment or position on events in Gaza are going to be deliberately twisted for political effect making it a bad faith debate.

NewsCorp tabloids ...'hold my beer'...:

And I won't even bother with Dutton's manipulation of the facts.

We are complaining about encouraging people coming to settle without proper infrastructure?

You can say then that the werribee region councils have been doing that for decades. Almost like build enough houses then it will be someone else's problem. But the original decision makers have moved on

Or any Australia politician really, save for the Greens.

Adam Bandt showed on Insiders today that he doesn’t take a position on anything.

The Greens should replace him with somebody of conviction. I used to like the guy but he’s become Trotsky-lite and gets away with it because he holds his seat by a very big margin.

They are a disgrace, the worst part is they know exactly what they're doing. And then have the nerve to whinge about the lack of "social cohesion" like they actually give a stuff and haven't contributed to it.

Yep like the Roweville line that was so damn likely that the AFL put a stadium near its proposed path.

Yep, and risk getting their bags stuck in the closing doors or cramped up against someone's armpits. The number of times I let a train go cause it was too full, knowing I'd get one in less than 10 minutes that wasn't, Londoners thought I was insane.
And those doors are unforgiving... Stuck my head out to check my wife had got on at another door. No warning beep, just a tone as the doors were closing... Fortunately a little old lady helped pull the doors apart so I could get my head out!

Newscorp have now come out and said it was sub editor error and have changed the headline.
