Training Report: Monday 16th September
Sunny but cool with a stiff breeze.
We arrived at 11:50 to an empty ground. Didn't panic though because The Boz had given us a good tip that training would definitely be on.
Not a lot to report really; it was all over in less than 30 minutes.
Reid arrived on the track late, but trained with the group.
DeGoey surprised by running out onto the track and then did all of the warm ups and running exercises.
Later he ran with his personal trainer, no doubt under strict instructions from Germany.

I watched him closely through the glasses and he moved without any hint of discomfort. In his 100m runs, he was at about 50% pace. Got to say I was very surprised. I thought if he trained at all it would be lap work only.

If we progress this week, he'd have to be a show on today's form. Thursday will probably give us a clearer picture. If he can launch into fast leads then he plays for mine. At any rate, it's about as good as we could have hoped for at this stage.

Players left the track at about 12:30.
Brilliant work mate

De Goey must be jet lagged after that super quick trip to Germany. I wasn't expecting him back so early. Thanks Apples.

Thanks Apples as always nice report.

Did you see Tom Phillips train?

Ah, well I think Bucks has already said he's not playing this week. He's at what, ten days? Normally a player may start running laps at this stage. Jordy has had extra medical help so he may be a bit ahead of the average hammy. I don't think it was a serious injury anyway was it? He ran quickly from the field with no limp, so a low grade strain may be all he has.
If it was the GF this week would I play him? From what I saw today? Given I don't think we can win without him, then yes, I'd risk him. I'd plonk him in the square and let him get one or two by using his strength and cunning. He's a chance next week should we get through.
Reid becomes the big talking point for Saturday. If it's not too wet, I reckon he plays. We need more than Mihocek as a marking forward. If it's wet, then Varcoe is in the frame and we go with a mosquito fleet. :)

I agree that the injury maybe wasn’t as bad as been reported. He played quite a while after he felt it tighten and then he was also being tested for a long time in the rooms as if he was a chance of returning to the game.

I was thinking the same thing. Could he just stay in our time mode?
Done a few weekend trips to Holland in the past years, in such a short period he would only be about 4-5 hours out of rhythm. Easy to recover from.
And we are talking a highly trained male in his early 20, he can probably go on for 24 hrs and you would hardly notice it.

Couldn't stride out after 45 seconds? Looked pretty good for a bloke who couldn't stride! Almost a great goal from the pocket. If that's a guy who can't stride then play him this week.
If you look at the replay, I think you'll see that he couldn't. A few minutes in he was chasing the ball back towards goal with 2 defenders between him and the ball. Where normally he would be bustling to push past them, he just couldn't get the drive out of his legs to have a go at them.
