That's a club that thinks nothing is wrong
Or
Has major issues with money/ is being told to watch the spend.

Either is a massive concern. Both is likely.

To not bring in an outside voice in some capacity not previously connected to the club is .... interesting.

Might be a lot riding on next year for a lot of people.
The GM of Football probably put a limit on the spend of all the AFL controlled clubs to help him with his new Essendon job

For the sake of my sanity, I need to keep telling myself that the club is just setting Hinkley up to fail, but I'm struggling to convince myself.

  • Bassett to defence is fine - has no business talking to our forwards.
  • Carr - fine.
  • Lobbe - rucks is fine, not remotely qualified for the other part.
  • Cornes - should be running water.

Better than what we had, but this is a bargain bin group.

the-waterboy-adam-sandler.gif I think even cornes would find that a challenge

Matthew Lobbe. Head of Development.
What a p1sstske. Laughable.

More vanilla than Andrew Moore

This seriously looks like a club setting itself up for a new coach in 2024.
Gives the head coach freedom to bring in a whole new team
Fingers crossed it's Hardwick with Carr as his right hand man

Well look away, an unpopular opinion coming up ....

I didn't mind any of that.

*Why spend big money on bolstering Ken, when everyone knows this will be his last year. The next coach can then bring his own team in

* Yes it's a bit vanilla, but still an improvement imo. Bassett to defense is a win, get him as far away from the forward line as possible! Chadbro to forward is def an improvement, regardless if you noobs like him or not! He has passion at least, and imo was a good coach at the Maggies.

*Carr is a good appointment, and at this stage I am happy to see him replace Monty, who imo was a failure, and had began to give me the irrits!

As for the apprentices in Hartlett, Goldsack ... Meh, who really cares? They are assistants to the assistants. Who did we expect to bring in to those positions?

As I said, I am ok with this. I still think the team will improve on this year and play finals in 2023, but I am also 100% sure that Ken will be gone after that, and that a new coach will be at the helm in 2024..

Sounds like the back ending contracts has caught us out again. We got rid of Howard and Ladhams, mainly because of back ending exposing us.

Story is coaches agreed to take cuts for covid, but had negotiated back ending to post 2020 covid cuts to their new deals to try and catch up.

Probably why we didn't replace Voss and Schofield for 2022 season, and Monty out is then replaced by Carr in 2023.

RossFC when do we start the 2024 coaches thread? The writing is on the wall for the 2023 group.

That 2025-28 new peak years with our idea of building "the best U/23 list" in 2018/19 etc drafts will naturally have to occur under different coaches.
Make the 2024 assistant coaching changes thread at the end of next season, or if rumours about new assistants start popping up just before that.

I wonder who the last man standing will be next time!

There will be pressure about the place next year that’s for sure.

I kinda get the feeling Ken probably knows it’s his last year and might well be happy to take a break from footy.

‘2023 - Going through the motions’

This is full "rememeber 2012" coaching panel vibes. Jesus.
We are nowhere near 2012 vibes. Remember we had a coach by Skype - didn’t we? Still, I think it reflects our financial situation and if we are to invest heavily in the coaching, it will be 2024 when a new head coach is appointed and supported like when Hinkley first started.

So our coaching line up for 2024 will include J.Carr and the rest from 2023 are sacked due to new head coach taking over in 2024
Our 2024 coaching panel will be Josh Carr as Senior Coach and any of the current assistants he chooses to keep- hopefully none.

I'm hoping for a new senior coach, Chairman and CEO before January, 2024. 2023 is nothing more than sitting in the waiting room- hence no other appointments.
