Not any sort of surprise but Tarkyn looked pretty dejected in the rooms after the game.

Is anybody as worried as I am the Burns going to Hawthorn will mean that the Hawks learn our gameplan inside out. What a disaster that will be.
Well it's pretty obvious Burns was not going to be retained IMO so he proactively found another job before officially being told he was no longer required.I don't blame Scott Burns for wanting to leave. Was talked up as a possible head coach before he left West Coast for us. Working under Clarko will be much better for his career. In fact he could come back as our head coach after 2yrs of gathering Hawthorn intelligence.
All assistants bar Sanderson & Gotch (contracted for 2018) have been told to look elsewhere as they aren't contracted beyond this year and there is no guarantee they will be re-signed.So why did the Hawks seek out the services of a 'quiet man who doesn't add a lot'? And why does Burns want to leave?
why would Ratts come over to be asst coach. Particularly when Hawks are building a new era. And with Cam Bruce leaving it further enhances Ratten's standing as Clarko's right hand man.
It's like choosing between an Audi and a Holden (sponsor analogy is deliberate)
this guy was possibly the worst appointment of anyone. Took him 3 years to stabilise the injury rate by which time a number of players lost their careers. Is davoren sacked yet
there's a thing called the football department spending tax you know. And it's not as if Hawthorn is paying him a pittance. I wouldn't want Ratts or any other assistant if his only motivation was $$There is a thing called money too you know? Whereby we can actually offer a better salary package. If we want someone we will get them.
Hodge would be sensational as backline coach..Good. Stevie J should be one they look at. Luke Hodge another.
Hodge would be sensational as backline coach..
Who would be the cutting edge of mids coaching at successful clubs?
Interested in the source but not at all surprised on this front. Rivers a bit stiff. All assistants bar Sanderson & Gotch (contracted for 2018) have been told to look elsewhere as they aren't contracted beyond this year and there is no guarantee they will be re-signed.
Of course it would be a number of factors and money might be a motivator. I would say the review has outlined that the club should be spending for success rather than trying to stick within the parameters of the FD tax.there's a thing called the football department spending tax you know. And it's not as if Hawthorn is paying him a pittance. I wouldn't want Ratts or any other assistant if his only motivation was $$
Yeah. I'd keep Rocca and Gotch. IMO, they possess the ability to say the word no to Nathan Buckley which will be the most important factor in his survival beyond 2017. If the club can surround him with a group that isn't filled to the brim with yes men he might actually be able to become a reasonable coach as opposed to the poor one he is currently.
I believe the fascination with Hodge is that he brings with him a tenacious will to win, the knowledge of how to impart that on others, he has a strong footy brain and is universally loved and respected. I'm in the yes corner with Hodge, but only if we make the right call and ditch Buckley. We're a weak club and won't sack him so he isn't a going to be a good fit because the club can't afford another guy learning on the job under Buckley.
Thought Rocca was a development coach and Sanderson our forward coach. In a golden son environment of nepotism, saying 'no' or having a difference of opinion is rare characteristic that is to be commended. That makes me wonder why he is still there in the first place?
While I agree with you on that front, my argument would be, does Rocca still posses the fresh ideas and iq required for today's game? Was he at all responsible for some of the fault in our fwd line? Maybe Bucks did listen to him?
The game has changed significantly since he played as a KPF which centred around big men who didn't move out of fwd half. Guess the actions stemming from review will tell.
Good question?? Still, there'd be heavy scrutiny going on in that dept too.Thought Rocca was a development coach and Sanderson our forward coach.
Figure of speech... Maybe 'gone past them' can mean the way in which they related to the game back when they played it, or from what it was many years ago.
- How come people then say they don't understand the game anymore, it's gone past them?
That's fair.Figure of speech... Maybe 'gone past them' can mean the way in which they related to the game back when they played it, or from what it was many years ago.
Strategies, mentality, physicality, fitness, science may have changed since that time however, if they are progressive and are open to new and fresh ideas, well then they may still have something positive to contribute or see it for what it is? Furthermore, like all jobs, I think people get stale in the same role (especially if they haven't experienced other environments) and become complacent too.
As a not for profit organization I doubt that we pay income tax.Is there actually a Football department spend Cap? Or is it just a tax that you pay if you go over the cap?
If it's a Tax...
PAY THE TAX.
Keep Sando as midfield Coach.
Get Chocco as mentor, get Nick Maxwell as defensive coach, get Monkhurst as Ruck Coach. get Eade, Daicos, Llyod, Hodge... and hire Bevo as our Forwards coach for all I care, pay Paul Roos to run the drinks... Pay the tax...
Collingwood is a business and financial powerhouse apparently... Instead of all our tax going to our Government, why not spend it all on the Senior Football side.
