So many players have been hit in the head and neck. It happens and least once a game yet Phillip was the only unlucky one to lose his life. Surely he wasn't the only one to be hit in that exact spot?

Shortly after it happened I remember hearing a specialist neurosurgeon or the like said they had only heard of a handful of instances of his exact injury occurring by any cause and no incidents arising from cricket.

It was a one in a billion freak accident, steps will be taken to develop helmets as a result, but a complete overhaul of design and the game isn't required.

No but OH&S, workplace safety etc; it is just how it is these days. That said, there is nothing wrong with trying to do things better. Let's not forget what the first helmets looked like.
