The forward 50 entries are still diabolical at times. It shitted me no end how Carlton could kick indiscriminately into their f50 and find the chest of curnow every time, yet our forwards would have a 10m break only to see the ball sail over their heads.

And our in close under pressure skills are just not there, unless sheez is involved.

To Mr. Sheezel, young Wardlaw has a ways to go if he is going to be better than your son. Your son is a freak sir.

Actually reckon that Clarko has thrown a few cheeky jabs at the umpires the last few weeks, knowing he can't outright say anything about them that's negative.

They are better drilled at lowering their eyes rather than dump kicking it in. Was no coincidence curnot took those marks out in front.

There really should be a rule that when umpires clearly **** up like that, they have to blow time on and let everyone reset.

They had perfect awareness. Carlton needed the goal to bank the win and they delivered in spades.

We regularly see players kick it away in the same situation and no 50. The umpire hadn’t even signalled who’s free it was, so he is assuming the player knows he is going to pay holding the ball. How would anyone know what holding the ball is after some of the stuff they let go tonight?

Lol an ump signal ain’t worth shit these days either. Did you see them point the wrong way on Chom vs McKay free? Then let Carlton play on while our boys are running in the wrong direction based on said signal. Embarrassing comp, this.

Made a couple of big, costly mistakes. But his overall game was fantastic. There are a few NM players that can learn from his energy and second efforts (PC I'm looking at you). Had my doubts early but I think he has already earned his place in this team.

I’d argue that they were “positive” mistakes that resulted from him trying to clear up after other’s more tentative efforts. He just got his timing off.

Yes worth watching. Some of the play in the first half was as good as what any side in the comp can produce, but there was also a lot of silly basic errors that cost us the game.

The biggest area of improvement and what will be the difference in us being a finals contender or not is:

1. Hanging in and holding up when we are losing clearances. When that goes we seen to just concede runs of goals at will. Watch all the games where teams get a run on. Need to be able to hold up and score on the rebound.
2. Forward connection. We don’t make the most of when we have possession and field position because the link or workfare isn’t there yet.

These are our two biggest issues outside of the turnovers which are improving.

Well, On holiday in Darwin. Watched on the big screen at the Mindle Beach Casino Sportbar. Surprising amount of North support. Once I explained to my Freo supporting family/friends that this is my derby, they were all on board. Proud we stuck to them. Dissapointed we lost. But then walking out to the magic susnet and markets made the world right.

We need some examples of what went on in that hell…

Crone behind me said the umpires were keeping North in the game, a nuffy was going on about Judas and handing Harley to the Eagles, a bunch of them calling Larkey a Stager etc.

Should be really proud of that performance. Sucks not to win, but we should have.

Positives:

• Best Clarkson has coached since he came to the club, thought he completely out coached voss
• Sheezel, LDU, Xerri, our three best players just keep producing
• Chom forward was brilliant (proved me wrong)
• Jacko & Logue combining with some fantastic moments
• Corr will be top 5-6 in our BnF
• Baileys best game this year, so glad he’s back on a wing
• Mckercher & Ford some great moments
• I’m sure I missed a few but some really strong performances across the board and responded really well after last week

Negatives:

• The difference in the game came down to the following 6 pieces of play. We half these next year and we win a lot more games, it’s really difficult to win any game (let alone against 2nd place)…

1. The Logue kick
2. McKay staying on the ground & kicking a goal
3. The McKercher Bork
4. Missed PC holding the ball
5. Saad 50m
6. Ford missing directly in front

Some of these we can control, some we cannot. Focus on the ones we can and the Ws will come.

The Fisher free kick resulted in a goal against us too.

His kicking will define his ceiling as a player. Everything else is there. I don’t think it’s possible to become an elite kick like a Sicily, but can he become a decent-good kick and become a rampe?

It was a handball a split second after the whistle and it was hardly time wasting. Most umpires have an awareness of the game and wouldn't pay that one.

I had a sense that this umpire really wanted to impose himself on the game during those 5 minutes.
