Much better effort, a couldve shouldve game so a little frustrating.

Now im not blaming Larkley, its just an observation over time - but his ratio of hands to the ball to non-marks seems exceptionally high.

It's easy to say we lost the game in the dying moments, but we had plenty of opportunities to ice the game (including the fumbled marks inside 50). We asked for a genuine response and we got it. Hopefully the boys take some belief with them to Good Friday.

Very pleased with the effort after a poor start to the season and an absolute shocker against Brisbane last week. That is now the baseline and we need to bring that effort every game. Do that and we will see the progress that we were all hoping to see the team make this year. Great leadership from Ziebell and Goldstein and really good to see Stephenson doing the hard work and laying tackles.

Despite the great effort I am bitterly disappointed that we let a game that was winnable slip. We still make way too many unforced errors that sap momentum and result in oppostition goals. A lot of work of work still to be done but efforts like today give you hope.

He was copping a bit of work from McCartin though. I reckon some of the tackles that were landed on him as he was about to compete for marks had to be counted as statistics. The umpire at the other end wasn't quite so lenient on defenders though. Buddy got away with a couple of hefty shoves.

In the end we did get more frees and amongst them a couple of soft ones, but it still seemed that Sydney got as many soft frees as North - especially when and where they needed them.

Negativity aside, that was well played by the majority of players - including those who copped a bagging during the game. There was effort and there was some nice execution.

Positivity aside, Sydney seemed to be allowed to scrag, bump and hold on to JHF more than they ought to have been entitled to. The umps seemed to turn blind eyes to that behaviour for the entire game.

I could be wrong about this but, I'm certain the last North player to kick a winning goal after the siren was Alastair Clarkson in his debut game in 1987? It's just not something we are known for unfortunately.

Three years from now that JHF kick from the boundary goes through half post height and we seal the win

The campaigner is unreal
Can you remember someone in their 4th game trying to win a game like that?

tad harsh. happy Chadwiko ?
Polec gets the same treatment for his shit effort, what makes Atu exempt from being called out on being lazy?

Young player who lost himself in his own disappointment over the last play. He'll learn.
Happy Chadwiko ? I actually believe this.
Lost himself? I’m not sure you can call just giving up losing yourself. It looked embarrassing when your teammates have busted a gut and he decides he can’t be bothered.

I must admit, I got a little heated listening to the final minute on the radio, I've cooled off however and am more or less relieved we resembled an AFL side today. Surely Souvlarkey has a day out against the Seven Dwarves (Bulldogs backline) next week?

Im not just talking about today, seems an ongoing thing. Dropped chest marks when on the slide seems a common miss, but many times im left wondering how the hell he didnt mark it.
Perhaps he doesnt deal well with softer arm chops umps dont pay, i dont know i cant put my finger on it.

Sometimes there is no Mekhi Phifer. He'll learn.

Much more important than Ziebell’s goals was the fact that for the first time in 18 months, we had a structure up forward, especially across half forward.

McDonald pushing up from the wing helped with this also.

Zurhaar despite having a crack, is still failing to have scoreboard impact.

Taylor continues to build into a complete player. With 3 metres of space, he chops teams up with his decision making. Footy smart.

LDU dominates, in patches. If he can string together those times he floats in and out of games, he will win a Brownlow.

Jy had an interesting match. Spent all credits in the 3rd.

Greenwood is such a good pickup.

Sleevo, Perez and McDonald were excellent on the wing.

McKay was huge all day.

JHF is the most exciting prospect since Carey. Composure, sticky hands, toughness, skill, leadership beyond his years.

Turner was effective in his defensive f50 role.

One of the biggest wins today was how well both rucks worked in tandem. Xerri is going to be a player.
