Come on, that's grasping at straws.

You can see that players were making basic skill errors. These are not errors because the coach asked them to do something too difficult. How can missing set shots on a windy night be bad game day coaching?
I think it's a coaching thing.

In dry conditions it is possible to use the ball precisely and be clean with ball movement. If we're out-numbered ahead of the footy it doesn't matter because we can retain possession and bypass them.

In wet, slippery conditions there are going to be a lot more scrimmages and hurried kicks forward. This means you need to keep even numbers ahead of the football to give yourself a chance.

We played a dry weather structure.

Shit night. Write it off, reset and come back and wipe the Bombers and Lions off the park

Regain confidence, win remaining H&A games

Finish top 2 ;)

Simples

Game v Port is 50/50 at best and the Eagles game a real danger to (revenge) no way is it an easy road home.
We have half a team of passengers which is a major concern.

Eagles were awful today, they absolutely stole that victory. I'm confident we will roll them at home.

Trouble is these games are the dress rehearsal for finals.

The next two games have no bearing on where we sit in the grand scheme of things.

Regardless of what happens in the final 5 matches we will enter September with massive doubts (internally and externally) on our ability to beat top four teams.
Next two games gives us an opportunity to pull back top 2. That's important as hell. September is a different beast for everyone, not just us. (We've already been reading about Dogs hammering us in 97 AND 98 in season proper only to lose to us in finals).

We are no certainties to beat lions and bombers if we play like we did tonight. Would be playing full strength team.
If we can't beat the bottom 2 teams at home, we should be nowhere near the finals.

I wasn't necessarily disagreeing with you. I think it was a mixture of both. Their system killed us all night and our inability to adapt was a blight on our coaches, as much as our players.

We clearly failed by not tagging Danger and Selwood like all the sides who have beaten them. Inexplicable oversight

Another astonishing move. We didn't even bother making them accountable (or we tried and failed)

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Staggering how many clearance bombs we attempted to 4 unmarked Geelong defenders. Ball movement completely fell apart, didn't seem to be any system at all in place.

Oh well. Still in a strong position to finish top 4 which gives you a strong chance at a flag. Every team this season has had a complete stinker so I'm not all doom and gloom. Swans v Richmond. Hawks v GWS, Dogs v Cats, Cats v Pies/Blues, GWS v Dees, WCE v anyone in top 8, North v Port.

We have issues but we've clearly demonstrated we're good enough to contend.

Time to get back on the horse and demolish Essendon and Brisbane.
This !!!!!!!

Don't think we even have anyone capable of tagging. Matt Crouch tried his best to rough both of them up but he's still a young body and was alone all night

Charlie got 18 possessions at 38% efficiency and 3 behinds. That is simply not good enough and deserves a week in the SANFL on it alone. His goal-kicking is deplorable. The boy needs to work on it a lot because right now it's not up to AFL standard.
Charlie had a shit game in a weird way. Had all of the aggression and intent we needed with none of the composure we also needed.
The rest of the team were pretty much the opposite, hence why it spent the whole time sailing over our heads.

Cats have us worked out. And they beat us a different way to last time which is a bad sign. Hopefully #lolnorf can knock them out of the finals (given Cats propensity to lose to shit teams)

But we've beaten Sydney, Eagles,(currently top 4) and Gws who will be top 4 if they beat Port. And lost by only 3 pts to the top team.

I think we can be confident we can easily mix it with top 4 teams.

Cameron was close to our best player. Didn't see anyone else get a set shot let alone kick one.

Needs to finish more often but he has done it when it counts and he will again.

You're deluded. You don't get to be nearly best on operating at 38% efficiency and missing set shots and Cameron consistently does not finish when it counts - that's his biggest weakness.

No more excuses.
