Similar to the previous post but the way I see it we have 16 locks

B: Wright FB Thompson
HB: Atley Tarrant Macmillan
C: Wells Ziebell Dal Santo
HF: Higgins Waite Harvey
F: FP Petrie 3rd tall
R: Goldy Swallow Cunnington
I: Jacobs

Spots up for grabs during the season and round 1

Full back or key back: Tippett vs Hansen. I've voiced my opinion many times that Tippett is the better option here to let Thompson play third tall. And Hansen would want to play a lot better this week compared to last week.

Forward pocket: Garner vs LT
Have both in the team with one starting bench. But not locks, Turner and Nahas putting pressure on their spots

Third tall: Brown vs Wood
Black and Daw an outside chance but behind the former 2 now

2 other bench spots: 1 of McDonald, Spud or Mullett
1 of Clarke, Anderson, Gibson or Dumont

Again with people ignoring Spud.

Yep, pre-season has shown that Spud remains a lock until someone can oust him.

Back Six

Firrito Tarrant Wright
Macmillan Thompson Atley

Consider that in the Pies praccy match only Taz played of this lot. These guys may be a little undersized but are all smart and decent users of the footy - good back six in my opinion.

Midfield

C - Wells Swallow NDS
Foll - Goldy Cunnington Ziebull

Forward

Harvey Petrie Higgins
LT Waite Brown

Bench - Jacobs, Gibson, Mcdonald, Mulett,
Em - Anderson, Garner, Hansen,

Leftovers - Daw, Black, Turner, Wood, Clarke, McKenzie, Tippett, Nahas

That's currently the team I'd like to see in Round 1. I'd be very happy to see Clarke or Black force their way in though.

I'd assume only one of Fishy and Luke, not both. Tough to see Jedi, Garner, Lachie as Emergencies. Dumont doesn't crack 'leftovers'?

Black, Clarke, Wood, McKenzie & Hibberd not far away.

Premiership standard team right there!

No tagging, no 7th defender, just attack with Pace and Skill and genuine grievous bodily harm on the inside.

Bring it.

How close is Turner to a game? I really liked the look of him against us round 23 last year!
I'm a bit surprised he's not in the 24 for NAB3 auditioning for a Rd1 spot. The small/medium forward depth chart goes something like Harvey, Higgins, Thomas, Garner, Anderson, Turner, Nahas, with Wells, Ziebell and to some extent Cunnington rotating through from the midfield. Then there's Mullett who IMHO would be best used as an attacking winger, and Wood and Black who can play as taller high HF/wing options. So for Turner,

1. Recruiting Anderson and the need to get games into Garner have probably pushed him back a bit, as well as Wells and Higgins effectively forming one mid/fwd combo between them.
2. Whether he's competing with Mullett, Wood and Black depends on structure. He's not behind them per se.
3. He's likely to get his share of games this year and I would think is in the club's long term plans.

In terms of his own game developing a bit more of a midfielder's skillset and some more penetration on his kicking would serve him well.

In theory we can't play Mullett & McDonald in the same team.

Garner, Higgins & Anderson won't all play in the same team either.

Dumont isn't ahead of Jacobs or Wright yet.

He did hurt his hamstring in NAB 1. They might just be being extra cautious with him as well.

Wright Tarrant MacMillan
Firrito Thompson Atley
Gibson Wells Dal Santo
Harvey Petrie Anderson
Higgins Brown Waite
Goldstein Cunnington Swallow
Zeibell Jacobs Thomas Mullett

* A Black/Hansen sized Defender missing for mine, however neither of them can defend.

i have no idea who is in form but I am assuming this is close to our best team:

B:Firrito Thompson Wright
HB:Atley Tarrant Hansen

C:Higgins Swallow Harvey
R:Goldstein Cunnington Wells

HF:Ziebell Waite Thomas
F:Brown Petrie Garner

I:Jacobs Dal Santo McMillan Gibson

If mullet dominated in the game this weekend I would hope he pushes some out out (not sure who) but we need that pace

I'd like to consider fishy in the second "outside runner" group rather than the "attacking/small defender" group.

LMacs ability to get a game depends on Jmac or Wright playing taller or us carrying a 7th defender.

In theory and practice our current set-up is proven to be not good enough.

Getting faster players with more skill is the only way.

Mullet, McDonald, Anderson & Wells into the prelim team is a start and I would like to see if our clearance work improves with Dumont in there at some point.

Firrito Thompson Wright
Atley Tarrant Macmillan
Gibson swallow dal santo
Wells Petrie Higgins
Harvey Waite Thomas

Brown

Three final spots on the bench.

Between Anderson/garner/McDonald/dumont/mullett

I'd go with mullett Anderson and garner

Ziebell, Cunners and Goldy left out with good reason.

Slackers.

the way i see it

FB: Wright Tarrant Firrito
HB: Atley Thompson Hansen
C: NDS Spitta Gibson
HF: Wells Petire Waite
FF: Thomas Brown Ziebell
Fol: Goldy Cunnington Harvey

interchange:
Jmac, Anderson, Jacobs and Higgins

unlucky:
if injury or resting during the season occurs
Garner could come in for anderson
turner could come in for thomas
mcdonald could come in for atley
dumont could come in for swallow
Black could come in for waite
Mullet could come in for Wright
