Interesting stats, Edwards consistently poor and is an inside mid, next final he should be sub at best. I think 3 opportunities to prove himself should be enough. The dilemma is that he plays some good games during the season but games are won and lost in the midfield and we need better from him and Ellis in particular.
no sub next year

Not sure Ellis is a better player than Tyson.

Ellis is limited to being Brent Stanton type. Tyson is inside and out.

I like Brando he racks em up but is nowhere near damaging enough with his possessions. Not sure I'd like to see him traded Tyson or not. I'd trade Conca plus a pick for Tyson though

I thought groupie was a woman

Go figure.....

Groupie blurs conventional boundaries.

Moore linked a couple of years ago , wouldn't surprise me with the tagger role in mind.
Hardwick tends not to tag, though. If he did, I'd want KMac doing it. Not against Moore on the cheap, but not convinced he's anything more than a flanker either.

Cyril like dare I say it, kid is a freak
Not in the same class, but talented.

Brandon Ellis swap for Dom Tyson
I'd do it.

Why not throw in dusty , lids , cotchin , rance and Jack .
Because they're better and we wouldn't need to.

yeah lets trade the better player to Melbourne. we want midfield depth not giving it away
Tyson is better than Brando.

Ellis is a gutrunning workhorse that breaks games open for us and is capable kicking goals through sheer work rate. Covers so much ground and is the link between our defence and forward. He also kicks more goals and is way more durable than Tyson.

Ellis Highlights in 2015:

Tyson didn't have a game where he had over 26 touches.
Stats, schmats. Outside runner is the junior role in the team, that's why we gave it to KMac. Brando is a very good player but we need the inside presence that Tyson would give us. Cotchin and Miles were the only Tigers to average more contested possessions than Tyson in 2014, when he turned 21 halfway through the year.

Need to add talent not deplete.. Tyson would be a good get but I find it hard to believe hes available
While I agree we want to hang on to all the talent we can, you have to give to get, and we can cover Brando easier than we can acquire a gun inside mid, which is what Tyson is. Brando is a great runner, but he's not quick, and he's an average finisher. If we swap him for Tyson, maybe Houli plays wing. One day Menadue will, or Drummond - both outstanding runners, both quicker than Brando, and Menadue certainly a better finisher.

Where's all this talk about Dom Tyson come from? spud of the highest order really
No, he's a gun.

Ellis effective disposals per game: 18.8
Tyson effective disposals per game: 15.2

Ellis effective disposals per game (%): 72.9%
Tyson effective disposals per game (%): 70%

Ellis clangers per game: 2.9
Tyson clangers per game: 3.5

Brando gets the ball mostly in wide open space, Tyson in crowded phone boxes.

Left field idea with no sauce or basis but an idea re doozy.
What if our coaching staff/club were informed that hale/lake were retiring and that the doozy is from hawthorn and they maybe willing to look at the astbury and first rnd pick for such doozy?
Hence pulling out of the Bennel deal and putting our cards on the table for Hawks?
Astbury would help fill a need for them and would see Hawks also rejuvenate their list while still remaining in premiership window?
Just a thought/conspiracy theory
Hawthorn would want Beanie or Griff, and they can't have em!

These are the stat sheets from the 3 finals
I would look at trading out those that have consistent poor finals games.
Doesn't look good for Shane Edwards.

Unfair on Ellis to say he needs to be traded because he is poor in finals.

Don't forget Ellis is an outside mid. Outside mids rely on the ball being distributed to them by inside mids and when the inside isn't winning the ball, the outside players don't get it, hence why Ellis' numbers have been down in finals
It's not unfair at all. You can't excuse a player's lack of impact with, "Oh, his teammates didn't get the ball to him". Win your own ball is one of Dimma's mantras. Anyway, Ellis out for Tyson would strengthen our inside mids' ability to get it out to the outsiders.

I would rather keep Brando, and I think you do have to be careful trading such good clubmen, but on a purely football sense, Tyson in, Brando out, strengthens the 22 on the field.

Griffiths not worth pick 18
If we agreed to trade him to Hawthorn, they would throw pick 18 at us so fast we'd get windburn.

Tyson is a great inside/outside prospect who's had one very good season at the level. But he's 186cm and 80kg, certainly not the inside beast we lack. I've stood next to him in person a few times and have been surprised at how physically unimposing he was for an AFL player. Don't get me wrong, he'd be a great addition and you can never have too much class. But he's certainly not the answer to our inside mid issue.

Dud delist.

Enjoyed your multi-quote, it's been a while! :thumbsu:

The stats don't look good for Sheds but there's been plenty of players who have struggled in their initial finals. How about next year let's give our blokes at least two to adjust to the pace!

I think you'd find that with a lot of AFL players, Ize. They're all slighter than you think they are on account of the running they have to do. Look at Hodge and Lewis, much slimmer than they used to be.

Tyson would aid our inside issues plenty. He's bigger than our two current best insiders- Cotch and Miles. If you can get first hands on it and use it well, you don't necessarily have to be a beast. Chuck KMac in for beast input.

he was also a bit undercooked after his broken leg. This was easily his best year though so hard to say how he could've gone

I remember watching Brando on game day and him saying he wants to break into the middle a bit more was just hard with snipper, cotch, Grigga and Dusty already there. He is a good size and would make a great inside mid

TL;DR except for my bit. To be fair to Ah Chee and for Cyril for that matter, Cyril wasn't in Cyril's class before he was drafted either. I said he was Cyril like i.e. he has some Cyril attributes...and he's taller. Would be a good get.

Yeah, i don't really understand why we fall to pieces in finals. Lets finish top 4 next year and at least play 2. Although imagine going out in straight sets....

Obviously i don't think we should delist sheds, but as you rightly said, his finals stats don't look good at all. Just not sure how you work on fixing that.

Why do we only have Pick 15?
I think because she has Mills and Hopper being selected as academy prospects before our pick 12, it effectively bumps our pick down to 15.

So right now we look like we are losing Lennon for at best Yarran

Ellis for Tyson which means nothing in terms of FA.

Did not get Bennell or Treloar

Dawson Simpson will take his place in the pantheon of log like Richmond ruckmen

We will not make finals next year

Pressure is the answer, we fold under pressure. When we are given space & time, we look very good. When teams decide to bring real pressure, we seem to panic. That is our biggest hurdle, we need players that have composure & good disposal under pressure. Whether our current group can take the next step is anyone's guess.
