Not sure Ellis is a better player than Tyson.

Ellis is limited to being Brent Stanton type. Tyson is inside and out.
would do in heartbeat

Disagree, I think Cousins was a great move, it was best for him and best for us, ive heard Cotchin as recently as this year talk about how good Cuz was for the training and preparation standards his time at the club, obviously what has happened to Cuz since his time at Richmond isn't great for him but I have absolutely zero complaints about getting him to Richmond when we did
Agree 100%. Cuz was good. Cost us nothing in draft picks. Gave everything he had. Only wish some of our current list gave half the effort he did. We'd have won a final by now.

Ellis is a gutrunning workhorse that breaks games open for us and is capable kicking goals through sheer work rate. Covers so much ground and is the link between our defence and forward. He also kicks more goals and is way more durable than Tyson.

Ellis Highlights in 2015:

Left field idea with no sauce or basis but an idea re doozy.
What if our coaching staff/club were informed that hale/lake were retiring and that the doozy is from hawthorn and they maybe willing to look at the astbury and first rnd pick for such doozy?
Hence pulling out of the Bennel deal and putting our cards on the table for Hawks?
Astbury would help fill a need for them and would see Hawks also rejuvenate their list while still remaining in premiership window?
Just a thought/conspiracy theory

B. Ellis will only get more important as the rotation cap comes down.

But an inside player would be the most valuable player we could get. It would give players like Cotch and C. Ellis more space where they are most dangerous. Between Miles, Conca, and a third we should have the inside stuff covered. Ideally I'd love to see Conca playing a kind of Edwards-like quick hands go between inside/outside, tackling, kicking-the-odd-goal role, with Miles and a missing player the poor sods who are at the bottom of the pack all day.

We'd be insane to lose B. Ellis, and almost equally insane to not go and get a hard nut.

I'm surprised about Lake, thought he had another year left in him and was a integral part of their defense. Hale....meh...

Also take into account the intangibles - loves the club and signed up to whatever was offered - no doubt was unders and we need that buy in. He does have faults like most of our team but would be insane to swap him out for potential output not so far demonstrated by tyson. Get tyson using draft picks
