Well he got a state combine invite, so at least two clubs are 'interested.' Not like clubs haven't seen him play, there definitely has been recruiters at pretty much every game he's played whether that's school or TAC Cup. Still a long time to go, things can change!
That's true, impressive stats as you've shown and looked impressive on the weekend once again, recruiters you'd think would be thinking about a possible late to rookie pick as you said

The AFL podcast talked about a straw poll of 6 recruiters.

McCluggage got the most votes for no. 1, Tim English was in discussions for no. 1 as well besides Brodie and McGrath.

I'd say McGrath would go top 5, except Freo might choose SPS, should they keep pick 3, to avoid go home risk.

Was a nice listen from Cal Twomey on the Road to the Draft podcast. Definitely think all those are a chance to be up there, maybe not SPS. Freo's Pick 3 could change who knows- very early to tell.

And those six clubs might have be those who aren't going to collect a Top 10 pick, eg: GWS might rate McGrath or Tim English as their No.1 but wont get Pick 1, but as expected McCluggage at No.1.

Rumors that Brodie is telling clubs he wants to play for the Tiges.
Heard anything along those lines?

No, I don't believe that at all. He'd go anywhere, very professional. Does all the right preparation and recovery. Will be fine wherever, interstate or not.

Outside of Alex Witherden, are there any Geelong Falcons players you expect to be drafted?

I think Sam Simpson (outside midfielder) is a good chance to go father/son to Geelong- Probably a rookie selection.

Jack Henry may have his suiters, I think someone will have a punt on Sean Darcy as a rookie- but that's all I can see him going.

Paddy Dowling has been solid, as has Mitch Diamond but I'd say they're both rookies at best in my eyes.

Pull your head in. You've done this in a few treads now and it is getting boring.

If you want to add something, at least be positive about it, not trying to call people out and big note yourself.

Reeks of amateruish journalism with flashes of "I told you so" across the spread.
Take a jump lets get something straight

I never comment on players ex WA , do not think it can be assessed as informed comment as we in WA only get to see some Championship games , few highlight reels from those outside WA.

WA players , I attended WAFL every weekend colts , reserves, and league. In particular watch / observe touted kids and others who look good . Know and have met many club talent scouts and recruiters including head recruiters . I listen, tend to ask questions, not say much as they know much more than I ever will do about the game . Common threads in most their thoughts on players and drafting process .

I have asked and never had an answer yet as to why people who see so little or nothing of WA players outside Championship which is generally limited to a TV ball following coverage
voice such strong opinions on skills, attributes, weakness . Yet to ever get a reply . Big noting to me is scripting strong opinion thoughts based on what ??

Bishop, I'm interested to know even though being selected as the AA full back this year that Jack Maibaum gets no love in anybody's top 30 ranked players but Grifif Logue often features 20-25.

Logue a much stronger build, he's probably a first round pick whereas Maibaum is second-third round in my eyes. I have him in the 30-40 mark atm. I'm not a big reader of the AA side, It doesn't sway my views on a player at all to be honest. Maibaum has played forward at stages for Melbourne Grammar (school) and TAC Cup for Eastern Ranges. Just think that might count against him and I rate Logue better than him. Maibaum provides good value for a side looking for a tall defender in the 2nd-3rd round for me.

Where would you have Sam Walker Bishop in this year's draft?

Walker's in the next batch of 10 (30-40- which I'll update either before or after tomorrow's TAC Cup final). Like his rebounding work, with a nice left foot. Built well and reads the play well. Had one of the best kicking/overall efficiency of the championships. Not afraid to take an overhead mark too! Like him in the 2nd round for me.

How do you see Scrimshaw developing? Is he a Birchall type ? Or do you see him becoming a genuine midfielder?

Agree with Bishop's assessment.
Kid is a picture of leadership and professionalism.

Expecting him at the Blues.
Cripps + Brodie with Gibbs, Murphy and Curnow

He's very good getting through packs, agile & nimble on his feet so can change direction and weave through packs. For me he certainly doesn't go inside and win the contested stuff, but I think he's got the scope to push onto a wing.

For me though, I just think HBF is his natural best position. He reads the play well and can float back and mark the ball (not afraid to back into a pack). His kicking was truly poo at under 50% in the TAC Cup this season- EXCEPT for the weekend where he hardly missed a target like he did in the Champs. His ability to get around opposition players is outstanding in defence so I reckon that's where he should play. Think Birchall's a pretty good comparison.

I could certainly see him warranting a top 10 pick come November- some could argue even higher.

Was going to hold off til post TAC Cup/Season- But I've decided to update my Power Rankings from 1-80 on the second post. Fair to say there are plenty of players outside this 80 I'd draft. Any questions fire away.

Please note that I don't put players in my rankings that I've never seen play- There's no point lying or making stuff up about someone you don't know... For example I reckon Coburg's Luke Ryan is a big chance for first round- But I've never seen him play.

Bishop, do you expect GWS to definitely take Sproule and how high? Do you think there's a chance of anyone taking him with an unmatched bid?

What I reckon will happen is GWS will attempt to trade to Pick 1 & take a player they rate highly and then match the bids for Setterfield & Perryman somewhere in the first 15. Macreadie & Sproule bids probably come in the 20-40 mark where I think they match and that's probably their five picks for the night. They should have plenty of points with 3 first rounders currently + Marchbank/Steele/Pickett/Possibly Stewart all going out etc

Say Brisbane get pick 2 and pick 3 PP. Who goes where? Thanks.

I need to update my Phantom Draft- Might do that Post GF weekend. If the order was Pick 1 Essendon, Pick 2 Brisbane, Pick 3 Brisbane I'd go:
Pick 1: McCluggage (ESS)
Pick 2: McGrath (BL)
Pick 3: Brodie (BL)

Could bid on Bowes- But Gold Coast will match regardless.

Thanks. Both fit the Lions need nicely.

Bishop, NM need speedy outside mids with good ball use. Who are the best kids in this draft with those 2 attributes?

Cheers

I'd say Vic country's Cedric Cox and South Australia's Alex Villis are two kids in this draft pool with those two attributes. Cox has played all over the ground on the outside, using his elite pace and strong ball use off either feet to effectiveness. He's a 19 year old overager who has played with the Rebels this year.

Alex Villis is more a half back/outside midfielder, with his CP/UP stats largely favouring his uncontested work. His decision making and smarts with the ball in hand is elite and he kicks the ball on either foot and you cant tell which is his preferred. He's not largely quick like Cox, but his decision making is through the roof.

Both are probably looking at a pick in the 15-30 range.

Do you think freo could look at trading down the order with gws? They could possibly get English and sps?

No I don't think so. If GWS are going to trade up, they trade for Pick 1.

If they did trade down, i'm not sure they'd be able to get both (English & SPS). No guarentees that either of them are at the top of their boards, no reason they won't take McGrath at #3 for example.

They are at top of boards or where a few weeks ago
