we dodged a bullett....
John Barker to be announced as Gold Coast coach....maybe a couple of our "out-of-contract" players may head north with him ?
The brother-in-laws......???
SOS to pull out a massive blindside in trade week........again, another mid......??
Devon Smith's manager said there were still 4 clubs in the race.....Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and St Kilda....
I would be happy if he went somewhere else
maybe just concentrate on Kennedy and Adam Saad

As strange as this sounds this is a problem. Clubs have to pay the minimum of 95% and we will struggle to get any where near this, especially as we have banked money from the last two years.

Paying out contracts counts as TPP, right? I'm looking at you, Palmer and Smedts.

If Gibbs is going to stay then offer him a contract extension and bump up his payments over the next year or two. Keep him for life and get him to 300 games.

I'm sure we could find a way to hit 95%. Even if every player has something added to their contract for this year so they can get incentives over the season, just enough to lift us up this year.

Personally I’m ok with not getting Rocky. Sure, he would be nice. I would rather keep Gibbs and bring on Kennedy with some of the younger guns stepping up. For some reason, Rocky smelled of a Daisy type recruitment. We cannot be paying overs at this stage for players like Rocky. Port should absolutely and did.

Spot on. as a club at our stage of development we are at, we are not ready to throw money and aggressive chase a FA like Rockliff. were at least 1-2 maybe even 3 years away from chasing a big FA and having a crack.

I would try and revise and front load contracts for our absolute must keeps with an extension a further year

eg if Docherty say is on $600k for 3 years make it $900k year one $600k for 3 years thereafter

Good Point
List cloggers.....Smedts is out of contract I think but Palmer will need to be paid out for his last year

I am amazed that so many posters are having little pot shots at some of our rumour sharers. I've had the odd rumour in the past, every time from a very good source, and I can tell you I don't appreciate it when posters make negative remarks after I've shared the info. We should all be grateful when people share rumours. I could see a Smurf getting peeved by some of the talk here and taking his rumours elsewhere. We don't want that. So stick a cork in it guys.

If we walk away with Kennedy and keep Gibbs I’m happy. Kennedy was the one I wanted. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t have said no to Rocky and I’d be happy if we landed Smith, but if we keep pick 3 and give up a future second rounder for Kennedy that will do me fine.

I have heard SOS wants to get 2018 picks IN.....NOT trade them out

Hard to see us getting Kennedy without using Gibbs. Unless we part with our future second which is unlikely given it will be a strong draft. Think SOS will be hoping to get two picks for Gibbs and use the best one, possibly 10, to get Kennedy and Smith (might need to throw in our third) and then keep the other pick to use in the draft or even use it for Saad. AFL website says something about 10 and 27 for Lever, well I see that as fair for Gibbs. So maybe 10 and our third for the two GWS players and then 27 for Saad.

Fair enough. I suppose I don’t want to see Gibbs go...

Can we trade saad for John barker??

We can still off load Gibbs. I dont see why everyone is so worried about Gibbs going. We werent going to challenge for a flag next year. The whole idea has been to go to the draft and bring in kids. I hope Gibbs does go.

You better not be complaining when we finish bottom 2 and getting smashed around the ball week in week out.

Most people would love the kids to come in and be AA quality. Reality is they need time, that's what mature oballers give like Gibbs. Let SPS learn his craft and develop his body across HF and spells on the ball. Same with Kennedy and pick 3, need to balance their developments.

Yeah id be okay with him going too.

But we'd be better off with Rocky in the guts is all.

FWIW I would rather get kids in and expect the likes of SPS, Fisher and Cuningham to go up a gear next year, but the idea of having Rockliff in there to support that growth is really nice.

I hope Gibbs does go. We all want Blues to get to the top of the ladder as soon as possible. Patience is the key in all this. I have faith also our young kids will take big steps next year. Would rather see draft picks come in and Gibbs go even without Rocky

Rumour is that Brisbane will take Lobbe off Ports hands to free up the cap space for Rockliff. Makes sense when you think about it. Brisbane get some ruck depth and maybe a higher compo pick.

Why would i be complaining. I have an understanding of where we are at and what we are trying to do. Short term pain for long term gain. The problem is people get to impatient . We got a way to go yet but i am prepared to ride the wave until the end.
