Lucas also told SEN. Meanwhile Hawthorn speedster Billy Hartung is exploring his options, but there is a "real possibility he remains at Hawthorn"

I wonder if we have shown any interest in him? His name has been mentioned previously? His speed would be handy..

Hmmm we'll see. No doubt a shrewd operator but questionable character. Although i guess i had the same reservations about Triggy when he came on board. This just seems eerily like the 'axing Ratten because Malthouse became gettable' scenario. Anyway i guess time will tell.

I actually think the club has this right, look at a CEO's KPIs and you will find Trigg hasn't cut the mustard!

Yes, I'm sure this is what players want to come to:

LoGiudice is pathetic.
I think you give the vast majority of players too much credit.

I doubt most couldn't give less of a shit about the club's response to political issues and the status of the board etc. They want to play football under a good coach, at a club with good facilities and in front of lots of fans. That's it man.

Trigg has been there for three years. We have struggled for sponsors and our membership is low. I didn't know Trigg commutes from Melbourne to Adelaide. I wonder if this was the main reason for his departure.
This being the case, then the club having Lethlean ready to go is actually well managed by both parties - lets just hope that is the case

I'm not for a minute suggesting the club's position on political issues would affect a player's decision, I'm saying that decision is clearly symptomatic of a more general malaise and more general poor decision making, it wasn't what a well-run club would do. As evidenced by the fact the other club to do it like us was Hawthorn, also very stable off-field at the moment...

I think you're wrong to suggest players don't want to go to clubs that are having off-field issues.

Fair call if thats the case. I haven't really delved too far into his performance

I think Trigg has done pretty well on the 'intangibles' from a public point of view - restored an atmosphere of professionalism, projected a steady image, done a lot of work cleaning up the comms (same sex marriage stuff-up aside). He's done very well in interviews, and earned back some respect in terms of 'optics'.

But from a growth and development point of view, I think it's fair to say he has been so-so.
Certainly not a terrible CEO, but The Judge seems like an ambitious and demanding boss ...

Right. So nobody wants to play with us and our CEO resigned..

Not the way i wanted this offseason to go.

This resignation is very odd indeed

“We’ve been talking for a while regarding tenure, family and so on and while this is an earlier than ideal decision by the Board to make a move, it’s understood. I’m extraordinarily proud of the changes and the strong foundations we’ve made over the past three years,” Trigg said.

Maybe, but I think it's joining dots that aren't on the same page. Not all off-field issues are created equal, too. It depends how much weight you give to each concern, and that's an individual subjective assessment.

Being that trigg suggested this was eventually going to happen it's probably been forced due to who is available (lethlean) despite the call to bring in a new CEO via a clear process. Which is fair. This is how we got Bolton. Trigg has been great settling the ship and promoting a clear message. But he's been all talk and on the membership front we've stagnated. A new approach is necessary.

The Happydude rumour has to be BS - there are no 'big name' players currently without a contract.

Alternatively, it is not BS, the player has to be one that is currently in contract but out of contract next year, but their club is seeking to renew early.

Big names we have approached in recent years, or have been linked to us in rumours, have included:
Dylan Shiel
Ollie Wines
Sam Day
Tom Boyd
Tom Mitchell
Tom Lynch

Of those, only Wines is out of contract in 2018.

Not the way i wanted this offseason to go.

We'll be adding at least 2 promising young players and keeping our salary cap intact and flexible going forward.

Look at Essendon, bringing three players in that will chew up a big chunk of their cap space in positions on the field they are already strong in.

2 of those players with massive flog potential which is not what we want on our list.
