Brisbane won more games this year than any wooden spooner since 1998 (Bris, 5.5 wins). Fremantle finished 5th bottom with 8 wins, Collingwood 6th bottom with 9 wins.

With the way the competition is evening out, we could conceivably win 8 or 9 games next year and finish bottom 5. Would that indicate improvement?

With talk on this page regarding a possible swap of 3 for STK's 7 and 8, would SOS be likely to then use that pick 8 as a way to complete other moves without dipping into 2018 picks or forcing Bryce out the door?

For example, we send 8 & 38 to BL for Schache and 12, and then on-trade 12 to GWS for Kennedy and one of 23/25 (alternatively Devon Smith could be included in place of one of their seconds if a deal can not be reached with Dons).

Hypothetically we could end up with this:
OUT: 3, 38
IN: 7 (Cerra/Fogarty/Brayshaw), 23 (1st round slider or that Kelly from WA), Kennedy, Schache

I can count. Three years in bottom 4 generally doesn't guarantee long tenure.

Love the man but he would want some i improvement. Sos might not!

After 30 Games
Brittain 16 wins, 14 loses
Pagan 7 wins, 23 loses
Ratten 12 wins, 18 loses
Malthouse 14 wins, 16 loses
*Barker 3 wins, 11 loses (from 14 games)
Bolton 10 wins, 20 loses

... idk if this actually shows anything?

CFC is as tight as a fishes **** with news these days.

Personally I think this is a good thing- even if it does make BF a little on the dull side.

Doubtless the SOS whiteboard/laptop is working in overdrive.

I will be amazed if we are not serious players when the whips start cracking next week.

Don't believe SOS will simply take 3 picks to the draft.
Barass70 bound and gagged?

The difference is we have acknowledged we are ‘resetting / rebuilding ‘ under Bolton

If Bolton goes, I go.

I don't think anybody really cares though.

I’d just about give up too, won’t happen....

People are so damn impatient, we actually did improve this year I have no idea why people think differently.

We could only win 1 or 2 more games next year but actually win those games quite comfortably compared to this and last year, lose a few (like we did this year) when in it up to our eyeballs in the last quarter.

Personally, I think there are 3 areas to look at :
1. End of year percentage
2. Ease of wins we have
3. How many blowouts we have

We’d need to give them something back to balance the deal.

But if this was to happen, I wouldn’t mind Kennedy and another player for pick 8, and then use 7 in the draft for another midfielder.
Sounds like Gws are happy to let Kennedy go for a second rounder we should go to GWS and tell them we'll give you 8 for Smith and Kennedy and put the heat on the druggies . And as you say 7 to the draft .

Doubt the Club would be so stupid as to not stick with the plan it committed to - more interested in statistics which indicate improvement including:

Games into youth
quarters won
goals for and against
rebound meter gained
kicking accuracy
I50 numbers
time in possession
time in forward half
turnovers
midfield kms run and meters gained per quarter/half/match
and finally
games won...

of course the easiest 'stat' to follow is games won...
and the easiest expectation is for moooooore games to be won - as if that is an input into any equation...

This list is still in rebuild and development and will be for another couple of years....ladder position is a slow hard climb to sustainable finals appearances - Clubs and supporters have to earn sustainability.

Honestly, how can people be so blind as to question the improvements that we have made as a football club over the past two years?

If you're judging improvement strictly by wins and losses then you're doing it wrong.

Personally, if you want to compare those 30 game marks then you have to factor in the expectations of the list that each respective coach had. To think we're in a complete reset/rebuild from the ground up and only have four wins less than the list Malthouse took over with himself claiming that we were a list in search of a premiership tells me two things. One, that a valid argument can be made that we're actually overachieving and how dismal that team was.

Many of us knew we may have to take one step back to take two steps forward this year. That's precisely what happened. I still think we could have won a further game or two this year had Ed and Pat not missed so much of the second half of the season. If you take any team's best two inside midfielders out of a team and you'll find a team that will struggle to win a game.

It's also not as though we're strictly winning games on the back of Murphy, Gibbs, Simmo, etc. You can point out significant performances by a number of our younger players in our wins. This is the first time since our Big 3 were in their younger years that we've been able to make this claim accurately.

We have so much to look forward to. Bolton is developing a team of hungry young men who want and will ultimately achieve success. There is no way in hell that his job is on the line in 2018. If we're bottom 4 in 2019 and beyond (sans injuries) then you'd have valid arguments. Until then, Bolton is the man for the job and has done admirably.

It would be interesting to see how he values pick 3, he may well think he can get the guy he wants at 7 as opposed to 3 (e.g. say Constable). In the last 2 drafts he has fought very hard to keep high picks and add to them, not downgrade them, so if we did trade pick 3 for a couple of lower picks I would suggest that he does rate the top 10 very even.

I really don't think we will trade before next Wednesday, unless there is a throwaway player SOS wants for a 5th round pick.

I'm still convinced Gibbs is gone despite both clubs denying.

Brisbane have been rebuilding for about 6 years. I dunno what people want from Bolton. I think we've exceeded expectations, given we've nailed both draft periods. I thought we might've drafted 2 players max from both drafts and the rest would be busts.
