Jones = early-mid second rounder
Levi = mid-late second rounder

Extraordinary stuff. Levis trade value seems to have improved after a worse season. Says something about:

- the game changing?
- need for a strong marking option in a forward line?

A pick 30 say for an ex rookie after playing 100 games and at 28 would be massive.

Was EOS game ‘82 played as a demonstration sport pre-Brizzy Commonwealth Games.

The one where we left Tassie off the human map at the opening ceremony.

Yep.

All I remember is the cute Kangaroo, winking at me as a little kid. I would have watched the game from the Gabba on tv. De Castella marathon is the other great memory.

Did you tell her/him that a song written over 50 years ago, about an educational system from over 60 years ago, in a country on the other side of the world?

And that it bears absolutely no relevance to the modern day Australian education system?

And that instead of wasting everyone's time discussing irrelevant pop culture maybe you should be learning how to teach kids to read, write, count and comprehend.
Hey, hold up!

I never told you why she played us the song. It was a hook for a greater message. The message actually was - “how can we teach so that we are not just being another brick in the wall, how can we teach so that we are being authentic and therefore meaningful and transformational for our students”.

It had nothing to do with pop culture or that the song had something to teach us about education.

Sorry, I probably should have said the reason in my original post.

Levi was in the side until he was part of the injury list. Broke his ribs then his hand. Two areas you do not want hurting when you play as a forward/ruck. When he was finally injury free, there was more long term benefit to leaving McKay in the forward line than bringing Casboult back for the last couple of games.

Don't care if you like the guy or not, he was best 22 every week until his ribs were caved in.

Yep, Levi's efforts for the team have largely been under rated by many on these pages.

Instead of complaining about Barrett the club should do something nice, like asking our sponsors Visy to dump 100 tons of brown paper bags in Barretts driveway and front lawn along with a "With Compliments" slip from the Carlton Crew..

I think part of the attraction is the "can't miss" ness of Walsh. As we're rebuilding we need a mix of "best talent available", "risk/reward" guys, but also need to increase the number of good (to very good) players on the list. Walsh might not be the next great star of the league (nobody can tell who they are pre-draft), but all good judges say there's almost no way he isn't a 200+ gamer at AFL level (barring major injury, disaster, etc).

One thing I took from the Richmond premiership list "build" was that they got their elite talent first/early, and then they basically DID NOT MISS on another good draft pick for 5+ years. As we build up, we cannot afford to torch top 10, top 15 draft picks. Even if we don't get the next generational talent, we have to keep adding "talent".

In Cripps and Curnow (at least), I think we have some truly special players. Better than could reasonably be expected. Guys who are in everyone's top 2-3 in retrospective re-drafts for their years. SPS was "most talented". McKay was "risk/reward". Weiters was "stand out #1". Dow seems very solid/exciting for such a youngster.

So circling back, in Walsh you have a kid who *could* be a superstar - ie. he's dominated most of his peers and won all the awards - and the best case scenario is he's Josh Kelly-esque within a couple of years. And the likelihood of him being at least a "very good AFL player" is as high as one could hope when the lad is 18. Makes it a pretty easy choice for Carlton given where we are, I think.

Great post.

What I will add is that Sam Walsh has shown true leadership potential already. Look at how important Luke Hodge and Joel Selwood have been to their teams. Sam Walsh has the potential to bring that to our team 6/7/8 years down the road.

Leadership drives standards.

Sam Walsh in Navy Blue please.
