Adelaide supporters have every right to laugh at us for paying overs for McGovern.

While we sit here and try to justify how much we paid to make ourselves feel better.

Breaking down the trade, it’s basicaly the equivalent for pick 13 for McGovern and a future round 4 pick for mcadam.

We could have had pick 1 pick 13 plus Mcadam in a super draft instead of getting MM. Get two elite midfielders with these selections.

We still have Pick 1 in the 'superdraft'.

#13 is no guarantee.

Note also that the Crows had to give up #40 as well.

So McGovern and #40 for #13 and McAdam really.

No it's not

And so it is written...

Great to have McGovern signed, sealed and delivered. Nicely done. It also prevented West Coast from getting Sydney’s Pick 13 and on-trading for Kelly.
Good Job TRP.
what's next on the agenda? can you see any players being traded out?? surely we need to address the Mids....
Cheers

Howard Kotton - "Carlton Expert".

McGovern will play mainly in defense, where Carlton already have Marchbank, Weitering, Jones, Rowe, Macreadie, Plowman.

And he's joining the Blues to show some leadership to our young forwards.

They are not laughing at us. They feel like they were entitled to more and didn’t get it.

Trade feels better if we think of McAdam as the total freeby that he was.

Becomes 26,28 for Gov with next year's 5th turned into another 3rd rounder.
Not sure about that. They may have been free but they were given for a reason and to get a late third rounder next year and a third rounder this year just doesn’t seem to be the best we could have got out of those opportunities particularly given the interest in McAdam

Yeah my main concern is that we have given up a potential Patty Cripps but we have to trust SOS that Pick 13 or thereabouts didn't have that upside (eg Collier-Dawkins).

Did we overcommit to MM?

Deal is done McLovin's a Blues player and I'll now give him my full support!

Car'n the Blues!

We had to do the MM deal. A ready made player who nominates us at the state we are in? You take him every day of the week.

Everyone is forgetting Walsh who could easily go straight into the team round 1 with how he's rated.

We already have so much youth that could catapult into stars within a season or 2. We need 24-26 year old's to help bridge that gap.
I am happy with the MM trade.

I dont care for using ignore. Because I find that even the negative posters can say something I like at times. Howerver it sure gets depressing when some keep taking potshots from the shadows. EP said it and I feel much as he does.Theres a big difference between vibrant exchange of differing viewpoints and insults that tend towards the personal. I ask myself is it worth reading and posting?

Hard Facts? We urgently require ready made midfielders. Why are we targeting MM when clearly thats not our most pressing need. It wouldn't matter if we have Lynch, Brown & Kennedy in our forward 50 with the limited supply our midfield provides. Absolutely livid with this trade. We wont win more than 5 games next year based on what we've bought in and yet were trading future picks and ready made players the AFL have provided us.

Did you even read their post? Outside of Shiel, who is the other established 24-27 year old midfielder we are meant to trade for, or that we were supposed to be targeting? Polec? Or were we expecting Gaff to sign somehow??

Facts:
We can't target who isn't there
We can't court guys with a 2 win season

The only other option was to throw Pick 1 at Shiel. And for what? Walsh over 10 years + vs Shiel over 5-7. Which do you really, really think is better? Sustained success of short term?

You're livid with the trade? Think about what you're posting.

We traded 26 and 28 and McAdams
26 and 28. If we go to the draft, what are we getting? 18 year old prospects - not 24 - 27 year old midfielders.
Pick 13? Again, another 18-19 year old.
McAdams? State League is a lottery. And he is not an established AFL player, as you're asking for.

Think about what you're posting lol.

Definitely. We have a great player but we have paid way overs for him.

We gave up two mid second rounders for a contracted 23yo with a high ceiling who we've been courting for 12 months. And turned our second compo selection into a pick in the 40's next year, when we'll probably be making more aggressive trade moves after missing out on Shiel this year.

Overs?
