Devils advocate the only thing is he said that a number of days ago...as we know things can change quickly.

Is it possible Coniglio told us no in the last 48 hours and our hierarchy/ITK's are keeping it quiet to not spoil the positivity and momentum we've gained from before and after the Teague announcement? It's possible.

I actually realise TCP today said he's had no update on Cogs and B70 hasn't said anything about Cogs for a few days now except to comment on what our offer to him is.

TheRedPill though today.........

As nice as it would be to get rabbit. Paying one player that sort of money/percentage out of the cap will turn around and bite us.
We would lose good players in the long run even if front loaded.
I really hope we get him but not for the money reported.
Hopefully he comes because he want to be part of what we're building and not just the Money.

What keeps me confident is that barass confirmed he told hawks no.
My confidence that the Hamish thing is false is that B70 seems to have a pretty direct line of info from the CFC. Without hearing what was actually said it sounds as if Hamish made out that Cogs had told Carlton no. In this case the club would not in fact be confident in getting Cogs and B70 would not have received and shared info that we are. Unless of course Cogs did a 180 in the past 24 hours.

No we won't, because in a few years Cogs would likely be only earning a more normal amount like $850k, which is fine for a star player.

If we did lose good players, it'll more likely be for opportunity than anything else.

Daisy cost us 700k a year and we lost eddie because of it. We got a lot of young talent that will want need to be paid what they are worth to stay.
When you start paying large amounts to a small number of players (Cogs, Mitch, Cripps etc) It's going to be hard to keep all of the Charlies, Mckays, sps Walsh when their contract are up for renewal.
