Would be hard to get a forward that’s done what Rozee has in his first year in the draft.

Papley is a creative, attack-minded player who kicks goals and shares the ball with his fellow forwards. We do need more tackling pressure but Papley's primary impact would be on the scoreboard.

Nope, no suggestion intended.

I would prefer to trade for Papley as his output is more certain than a draft pick.

But I did want to compare him to a recent quality small forward so I wasn’t just shooting blind. Good discussion.

It’s a very narrow analysis to focus purely on the same number from previous drafts. Who was taken at one particular pick number can just reflect the needs of the particular club at that pick. Generally you would look at the group of players taken at that pick and just after to see what quality goes at that point in the draft.

For instance l do remember a couple of players called McKay and curnow taken near pick 8.

His delivery to Franklin was a particular feature this season. Would be the perfect option to be hitting up Curnow out of the square.

and wait three or four years to actually play at consistency level of Papley ?
Why would we do that when our stated plan is to bring in more senior players this off season ?

I can live with giving up pick 8 for papley but you can get quality players at pick 8. Top ten picks are valuable for a reason.

Smaller quick agile players can come on much quicker than other types. Sure won’t be at papleys standard to begin with but can provide value to the team in first couple of years.

Papley is the higher priority and IF we miss Martin so be it.

I will not lose sleep over it even though he has good upside and fills a need in our side but it just all comes down to what he costs us and by all reports he is wanting some serious coin for a player of his level with no consistency shown yet at all throughout his career.

Petrevski-Seton is our biggest name, I doubt he will seek a trade.

Obviously has skill but do we need such risk with a young developing team?

If Sydney are willing to let go of Papley for pick 8 there's no chance we say no. The deal would get done. I think the problem will be Sydney probably want 8 plus our future second or something else.

Difficult to answer. The top 10 in a draft can project to be top players. Papley would be amongst it though.
