Sorry if this is a silly point, but just in response to those saying we wouldnt have to give anything up. Why wouldn’t we? I’d love him back. But if Eddie was to eventuate... we wouldn’t get him for nothing? He’s a contracted player so what’s to stop Adelaide from twisting our arm for him?

This is the issue. Only thing I can think of here is if we take him for a 4th or 5th round pick (give away) and agree to pay out his salary. Crows might be happy to get him off the books. We might also come knocking for Crouch and they might tack him onto that trade.

It still all comes down to what Adelaide want to do. I wouldn't be bending over for Eddie Betts but he could be useful for a year. He will probably kick a few goals but I don't see him bring a whole heap to the side when it's that manic forward pressure we really really need. Could be handy from a coaching perspective though.

Eddie wants it to happen... Most of the fans want it to happen... The coach wants it to happen.. Just get it done SOS! BRING EDDIE HOME!!
It’s s marketers dream. The favs never stopped loving him. It’d be the perfect ending to his career rather than being used by the AFL on the Gold Coast.

I think the crows would want 8 for Crouch alone.
Maybe we can get Eddy thrown in if we paid his salary if he's on the out
I think if players stood up at crows and said I want OUT — they will do what they need to clear said player— there in a position now where they can force the issue with the group ..

I feel like I'm going mad since this is like the third or fourth time I've said this on this site. Since Teague took over, we've been fantastic at our forward pressure, once we get it in our 50 we really lock it in there. What we do lack, are finishers inside 50. Once the ball hits the deck, we have no-one outside of Cuningham (who has been injured all season) who provides x factor and forward nous to kick goals.

Even if he shouldn't be our first and only option, Eddie provides goal kicking nous in spades. I'd imagine his forward pressure will improve too when he moves from a team in a slump with bad morale, to a team that is on the up and has a system that thrives on forward pressure.

The difference being that the Cows didn't have any big marking forwards this year...Eddie was the 'go to' man.

He would just love being under the feet of H and Charlie....and hovering around McLovin' for the sneaky handball.

I agree but at the same time the club will need and look to save face.
They simply cannot allow a mass exodus.
Senior figures at the club will go and the club will likely look to rebuild.
I don't really see it going any other way.
Let's just hope we can capitalize on the situation, enough good players of ours left by similar means when shit started going bad with Malthouse.
I'd say the club would know how best to approach this given our past experiences

It's a fair chance that a player like Eddie will be a catalyst for that forward manic pressure, even if he isn't the one doing it all the time

Just get Eddie to claim his contract is null en void due to collective minds camp... AFL can make up the rules why can’t we...

Because they'd be looking for a salary dump....

If Betts happens... I'll be a tad peeved because we moved daisy on but I really love the romance of it and once I actually see Betts in a blues jumper again it'll be all roses. Would be a great mentor even if he only played for a year. Stay on as the role that AW1 held a few years ago.

Hope so the 2 years playing was a bit of a stretch
@ years is a long time when in your 30's But Eddie is a resilient player and e is not injury prone. A new lease of life away from that toxic club and the aftermath of the simple minds fiasco and you never know. Would 35 - 40 goals justify a second year? Simmo says hello.
