Is it just me who would prefer to "miss out" on Martin?

Martin is the very definition of a cream player playing on a team who desperately requires him to be more.

Put him on a team with Cripps, Walsh, Dow, Kennedy, O'Brien, Setterfield, Petrevski-Seton, Curnow, McKay, Weitering, etc, etc. and he is positioned to be a cream player on a team ready to add a key cream player.

He's not and will never be the type of player who will make a shit team good. He is, however, a player who a great team will make a great contributor.

If we get him at a good price then it's a huge win. We don't need him to do for us what the Suns needed him to do for them. Round peg round hole for us, round peg square hole for them.

Ruckman notoriously peak early and are often at their best in their first 4 years in the system.

After that they often decline quickly.

Few ruckman of note play well into their 30's.

Teague wants Betts, sos isn't as keen. Compromise is basically that sos will get him if it's cheap enough (cap and trade wise) and if he can't get other targets over the line.

Eddie has said he'd be happy to take less money to get back to the blues compared to his current contract/gcs offer. Although that's with a bit of wink wink knowing the club will look after him after retirement.

Personally think we are more likely to land papley and Martin in which case it would be no Betts
I would love to see Eddie back at Carlton even if it is for only one year. May be past his best but the 'feel good' factor would be fantastic - may even change his kid's alliegance to that other team. Hope it is just SOS keeping his cards close to his chest and not wanting to inflate Eddie's trade value beyond 'a packet of chips'.
Please SOS, just get it done.

He seems an inconsistent and ordinary player whenever I have watched him with no best position. IMO would not be worth $500k-600k let alone the draft capital needed to get him. What role would he play in our team? He is not a small forward, not particularly quick or strong.

Instead give me Papley and a gun midfielder please!

(In saying that if we do get Martin I will back him in 100%)
Might have a bit more to do with the location and system at GC. Very highly rated by quality judges such as Twomey. Yes from me, ahead of Papley because of his ability to be clean and go on ball.

Not sure why there are so many against recruiting Cameron - he'd be a very reasonable and sensible addition.

Massive guy who had a dominant 2018 at reserve level but struggled with a couple of injuries in 2019.

He'll come very cheap both in salary and what it'd take to bring him across, and given the salary and flexibility to his game (can go forward) he's a much better list fit than Lobbe who he would ultimately be replacing.

Been in the system a couple of years now but at 24 he hasn't yet entered his prime.

This one is a bit of a no-brainer IMO. Makes a lot of sense.

He is exactly the type we need mate, hopefully more French (Barnaby) than Warnock (Robbie)

He’d want to be a hell of a lot better than both.

Is that because they come in so physically ready to play? They usually take about 4 years to significantly impact (Grundy) at a sustained level. Agreed they are usually done by their 30s.

I come in peace.

S.Gray would be an awesome pick up.

Has always been a whipping boy on our board. Not the most talented but will give you 110% most weeks. Doesn't help that he has been played as our key forward for the past couple of years (if you've watched Port games you know what I mean). In the guts he is a serious accumulator (end of 2015 for reference). in the right forward setup he'd be a genuine threat.
Can you guys hurry up and re-sign him. Please?

with Kruezer phillips tdk harry mckay maybe casboult on list do we need a developing ruck type . 3 rucks in the VFL this year was a disaster how much time will TDK spend in ruck if we take a Darcy type? unless they plan on developing TDK as a forward.

Seen much of him? I'm hoping Agresta has a decent read on him from his time at the Swans.

What I like about him, is he fits the bill of a genuine ruck/forward

Has a nice leap, strong enough hands and a very fluent, compact, accurate kicking action in front of goals

As impressive as Constable was at senior level this year, he did have a bit of the Will Brodies about his disposal. Preeeeeeetty sure every kick he had was a high long blind “snap” forwards. Maybe I’m mis-remembering, but from reading BigFooty I’d be forgiven for thinking Constable was a Josh Kelly clone.

Yeah you misread it

Given how much time Kreuzer and Phillips spend on the sidelines, we absolutely need another option.

TDK - nowhere near ready to play #1 ruck
McKay - became obvious we don't want him spending much time there yet, if at all
Casboult - relief option, may not even be at the club

Cameron is a good option and a much better fit than Lobbe who had zero flexibility to his game.
