Silvagni looking to adopt similar tactic to that he used at GWS - obtain as many first-rounders as possible. If we land number 1 pick, we're then expecting pick 2 in compensation for Hendo. Will then be aiming for an end of first round pick in trade for Yarran.
Netting us picks 1,2,15-18,19 #bluemour

Come someone explain to me why this pick 2 compensation for Henderson keeps coming up? Is there a loophole I'm missing or has everyone lost it?

...just on the Yarran pick, if we get Rice and SOSII this year I think I'd rather a future round 1 pick from the Tigers. Giving us 1, (2?), 20, Rice, SOSII this year and say 1, ~15, 19 next year, given all the talk about this year being weak.

Mods: I understand why comments are limited to this thread, but the whole reason that was suggested was to improve the bluemour file to only relevant pieces of information. In this circumstance, a clarifying point should be warranted to ensure we dont spread misleading information.

I actually recall the threat of bannings for people who asked what compensation we would get for Henderson in the list thread.

I don't know how you can definitively say this. Yes some of it is recruiting but surely development has been horrid. Even now do you honestly think if Menzel had spent the last three seasons at Hawthorn he would currently be dishing up same quality of output. He would not have been getting games so he would have had to lift his work ethic.

ok then name them. Menzel isn't a failure, he's had his ups and downs, he's still developing and yes, has a lot to work on. Can't see too many player's we've delisted due to quality thriving and pushing to get back into the AFL system. If this magic wand that all these good team allegedly have called player development exists then you'd think these perfect footy teams would be waving their magic over guys like Lucas etc. It's an excuse to get off the topic of our horrible list management and drafting. Our player development issues are with those players who have made it and could potentially be that little better.

You can't say players like Lucas, Bower, Watson would have excelled at teams like Hawthorn when they probably would have not taken them in the first place. It's easy to develop players who have the right attitude personality and enough ability and athleticism to make it and this is where we have failed. Wayne Hughes drafted a lot of players who were weak competitors or just flat out lacked ability, those sorts can't be developed. At least Rogers has drafted some kids who while they aren't stars with a lot of ability, they are competitors and have a chance of being developed into capable AFL footballers.

I reckon the Carlton online community should lay out realistic expectations for SOS, the new coach, the board during this offseason so we can avoid the hysterical hindsight reactions after the fact.

I'll reserve my right to be completely unjustifiably indignant, thank you very much ODN...

Hughes in my opinion was an elite talent spotter, he just lacked in identifying character.
Almost every player hughes brought in were highly talented even down to the rookie draft, especially the rookie draft.
Rogers was very good at identify player with the character to make it at afl level cripps is perfect example just an ordinary inside mid until he went off on his own to hire a sprinting coach then bamb all of a sudden he's an extractor that gets to every contest.

Clearly in the minority... I watched him in a few games and kicked a bag of 5 or 6 and didn't even look like missing, his opponent kept getting lost while ball was in transition and Schaches movement was brilliant... Everyone entitled to their opinion but this 1 might come back to bite you :D Would prefer weiters though, kid will be a freak for us, could probably hold up the whole back line single handedly!! ( If we get him)
I think this largely contributed to Schache getting the amount of shots on goal he had. Yes, he never looks like missing but AFL is much more congested than U18s. For some reason I keep thinking if Watson was a forward at U18 level, he would have kicked his fair share of goals with that accurate left boot of his. I see Schache is decent below his knees but he looks quite slow, another thing that he and Watto may share, and one that doesn't translate into AFL well.

I always saw him as a luke Mitchell type.

Rogers said on many occasions: "We will select the best player......for Carlton"

That's fair of course and just a little bit interesting, also.
