I can't wait until a bunch of entitled pieces of s*** come to my workplace & spit on and abuse me then call every radio station crying like I owe them something...it's gonna be amazing!!!I read social media criticisms about my performances, now I'm gonna win the premiership with my team-mates - thanks, social media & supporter abuse!
Despite what has been posted recently regarding his contract, I doubt he will be at the club next year. I think we are offering him a contract primarily to increase our leverage in the trade period.I dont think I ever went overly hard at Dow, or personal.
I'll happily admit I never really rated him though and still don't.
Not sure a guy getting starts as a 7th/8th string midfielder is anything to claim "I told you so" about.
It's harsh as he seems to be a really good kid but he'll be back to the VFL as soon as we get healthy.
Good to have you backdow to be offered new 2-3 year deal
Gresham would be given games, that's what newly traded in players expect.Reckon Gresham would struggle to get a game in our current set up, def not worth the money that's being thrown around in the media
But Ed's not getting 16 games next year to hold Dow back.Despite what has been posted recently regarding his contract, I doubt he will be at the club next year. I think we are offering him a contract primarily to increase our leverage in the trade period.
If he stays you can't argue its a bad outcome given his propensity to improve and his standing among his teammates. But he'll still struggle for games.
What about Elijah Hollands? Point of difference forward/mid ... Gold Coast need picks ...Unlimited category B rookies? That's news to me, but ok!
Flanders seems to be if we have to go through medical releases with some players, or wind up losing a few too many mids all at once. He's talented, but with his pace and kicking depth I'm not sure he improves the senior mix in 2024/25.
Gresham pushes out one of Motlop (who needs to develop himself as a mid) and Cottrell (who needs to hit passes while running).
I don't think Ed is holding him back. But Ed's not getting 16 games next year to hold Dow back.
How much $$??Reckon Gresham would struggle to get a game in our current set up, def not worth the money that's being thrown around in the media
It's certainly not a fit Walsh and Cerra. I believe hypothetically, if Ed wasn't selected, then Dow would be the next logical choice.I don't think Ed is holding him back.

Go Blues.
Go Dow
Go Curnow Camp
Whatever!
Let's look forward
Together.
Reportedly “750 a season” you know the figure they throw around when they’ve got no clue. For someone that would legitimately add nothing to our teamHow much $$??
I think you’re right. The issue is OK say we get him in we’d have to dump a couple younger blokes off the list the same type that play his position. He’d be given a block of 4-5 games to play our way. We then realise he can’t. Then we wish we still had those younger blokes on our list who have proven they can already this season. Can’t see us making this mistake for a bloke that’ll wind up in our reserves team for most of the season.Gresham would be given games, that's what newly traded in players expect.
But at what cost and benefit to a strong list, contending for this years flag?
I'll take a stab at the midfield selection priority with all fit ...It's certainly not a fit Walsh and Cerra. I believe hypothetically, if Ed wasn't selected, then Dow would be the next logical choice.
Curnow the Clown will be on vacation though and the retreat will be run by Mr BlackI think we need to have a BF Carlton board retreat at Camp Curnow.
There's a few big bodied slow ones there and I think your post suggested that Dow, who will only improve with AFL exposure in a good, fast team was unlikely to get games next year?(there's no reason to believe that a few of those names, who are less durable than Paddy won't lose more games to injury in 2024).I'll take a stab at the midfield selection priority with all fit ...
Cripps
Cerra
Walsh
Hewett
Kennedy
Docherty
Dow
In finals, I think we will roll with the first 4 + the more flexible Docherty playing wing/half back. And probably a mid as a sub. Still doesn't get Dow a game and Ed C still nowhere to be seen.
As we've seen recently, injuries create opportunities and Dow has performed well in patches.
100% agree.Gresham very underrated. Having an average year but still a good player.
If it is not him I hope we still look to bolster our HFF. A very injury prone bunch. It’s all going well at the moment but it’s easy to forget how badly exposed we were in that area of the ground in the first half of the season.
We could just retain Fish and get him back to that 2022 form, then I’d be confident.
This is the problem though, as much as we all love what he's doing at the moment if he stays next year it could turn out to be on the basis of basically being injury cover when others are unavailable. If his aim is to play regularly at the AFL level, he may just need to seek out a new club. Nobody could begrudge him that and at the end of the day it's nobody's 'fault', it's just the reality of the situation. There's a few big bodied slow ones there and I think your post suggested that Dow, who will only improve with AFL exposure in a good, fast team was unlikely to get games next year?(there's no reason to believe that a few of those names, who are less durable than Paddy won't lose more games to injury in 2024).
It's an interesting debate.I'll take a stab at the midfield selection priority with all fit ...

I'd be happy with Kennedy or Dow as sub, and take the risk of introducing the sub into the game earlier than late in the 3rd. quarter(which seems to be the trend). It's an interesting debate.
I can easily see Dow and Kennedy being interchangeable. They both offer slightly different things. Kennedy is fairly one paced in the middle and doesn't offer much more than what Cripps, Hewett and Cerra do in the middle, but he's decent when floating forward. Strong contested mark and a pretty good shot for goal.
Dow offers burst speed at stoppages. He can break lines and has really fast hands. Not as good forward, but loves to kick one on the run from 40-50m.
100% agree.
At his best he's getting 20+ touches, 3 tackles and a goal a game playing high half forward.
He just needs to clean up his kicking a bit and hes and elite player.
