Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

I don’t understand why people are to a degree going after the club for not giving more information. Frankly it’s none of our business & just from a footy sense of you want the young early 20’s year old back & to sort himself out & become the player we think he can be. The last thing he would need is the club doing is “Elijah has been doing X on this date, then on Y he did this, so he is now doing Z”

Reading between the lines of Sam Edmunds reporting, suggesting he is going to be out for a while, he has obviously reached out to the club for help (which is a good thing) & he will now get that through the club, AFLPA & other sources.

I’m certain that as long as he sorts himself out & gets back, at some point he will most likely talk about. Which is his right, it’s his story & it’s his to tell. We aren’t talking about an injury.

If drugs are somehow related, people need to pull their heads out of the sand, it’s a massive issue in society in general & the AFL. If suggestions are accurate that he has asked for help, well done Elijah, it’s not an easy thing for anyone to do & it’s great he has recognised the problem. If it was an event that lead to this (a certain night or something) we wouldn’t be speculating, as let’s be honest it would be all over social media & would have leaked from somewhere, it hasn’t. So seems like a kid recognising he needs help & asking for it. Good for him.

Gambling is more of an issue. When you have 9 year old talking about the odds even if they don't quite understand what it means it is a very scary prospect. Just because it's rammed down our throats everywhere.

Countless studies have shown that the rate of drug addiction is no worse than say alcoholism. In fact the numbers are remarkably similar. There are always going to be some that find drugs problematic.

Off the top of my head, its around 7% of users will become addicted.

I find it really rich that the club is dictating what can and can’t be speculated on (as has been the case since time immemorial with all types of public figures in the media) …. this isn’t a criminal procedure.

The club is not dictating the narrative. The AFL is in full control of this situation.

Personal Issues, cost premierships. I love what Elijah brings but the Carlton playing list has been littered with conditional footballers for 25 years
Getting found out costs premierships. The Dominator got away with plenty just one example. Don't be the dumb one that forces them act hard.

No place to hide these days, feel sorry for him to an extent. A few weeks off and he's back, he'll come back stronger than ever.

Why is this blowing up so hard? FFS the stuff is everywhere in the AFL and the community in general. There is a worldwide trend away from alcohol according to published figures and you can see it in the financials of the alcohol producers.
But did young kids all of a sudden stop having fun? Join the dots people and dont be too pious in your assessment.

The fact that he is even ‘zoned’ to them just highlights how wrong this criteria is. Just plain incomprehensible that an ex-AFL son is NGA.
100% agree, but we all know how the AFL love to screw us over.

I appreciate the other posters allaying my fears that Richmond may swing in and get him. Good to know there is zero chance of it happening. Had a mini panic when reading it this morning. Ha!

Not sure why you are talking this down. Let’s face it…it’s a problem. it’s obviously become an issue for the person involved and his employer.
