I know someone who worked at the dogs the same time Russell was there, and he could not speak highly enough of him. Reckons he’s a fantastic coach

Staff and players are divided 50/50 about Sayers departure. There have been a lot of bad reactions and some huge rifts have opened up. Some very immature and unprofessional reactions have gone down. Source personally does not approve of what Sayers did, so doesn't seem like a propaganda rumour.

Well, I guess it depends where the directives come from.
Is everyone in sync? We depend on The club to figure out all this for us.

It was a personal matter that had very little to do with the club, and now he’s gone 9 months early.

Surely everyone just moves on?

I think it could easily be the same as you see opinions split around here. Some see it as inappropriate/offensive while others see it as a private communication that leaked out.

Hard to know without more detail/context but we live in crazy times where people seem prepared to die on strange hills (metaphorically)

Agree, people clutching at straws if they think Sayers saga has any impact on players putting in piss weak efforts and giving up a 41 point lead to Richmond.

Ollie worried about his brother’s welfare might have a case but even he played well with all the fumbling and bumbling going on around him.

Same. A mate of mine played under him at Footscray VFL - said he was a pretty special bloke.

If the "heated exchange" happened between coaches and the rumour of internal conflict with the.board due to Sayers departure is all true, then we are in for a rough year.
For a club to perform on the field, it MUST be settled off it because it all filters through the club.

While there may be some heated words exchanged - I’m calling BS on this being a major issue. Cook & Wright are too wise, talented & experienced to allow this to fester into a something that will cause instability.

Geez Longmire and Cox literally screamed back and forth with each other last year and they were, for the large majority of the season, the best team in it.
