For Brodie Grundy to evolve his game, he's go to work on his tap work with the midfield. Directly. Pushing and playing more deep forward.
What utter tripe , Grundy most value to the team , is to push so deep forward that he is in the pie stand and off the ground , we have tried to hide him here there and everywhere, he does not belong anywhere, what a waste of our membership dollars this prima Donna has been since he and his management decreed he was worth that absurd amount over such a long sad drawn out period of time , and to the d!ckheads who signed off on that deal. GTFO of our club.

He is actually the player we need most to step up and be a leader, not just a player. He doesn't want to play that role, but in reality he is one of the few with the capacity to do it and players around him would be improved by it. He thinks he doesn't want to be too interested in footy, but ironically, if he stepped up and played a leadership role then it would be about more than just footy. I hope a new coach is really able to bring this quality out in him.

I think him being part of the leadership group for a few years qualifies him as a leader of our club

oh! for some reason I thought he declined the role.
I remember bucks saying that brodie was wanting to not be 100% about footy (which i totally respect and have no problem with), and was reluctant to really be a central driver of the team.
I guess I stand corrected. Overall I still think he is the sort of player that really has the best toolkit in terms of personality , respect of the players, and on field skills to be captain, but so far seems a bit reluctant

Article in The Age today with Craig McRae.

There is a section where McRae discusses Brodie Grundy.

I would be interested to read people’s thoughts on McRaes comments.

I don't care if he doesn't devote his whole life to footy but he needs to understand that he needs to devote his heart to the club and play for it - otherwise he's really just going through the motions.

To me it looks like Brodie either buys into the team or is moved on. Whether that in the next month or within the next 12 months, this is how I read it.
I agree, McRae will either really get the best out of Brodie or he'll be on the outer. I think the former, given their previous relationship

IF it's that bad of Problem we have Big Issues at the Club

He has 6 million in the bank for the next 6 years, why break his back when he's got money in the bank just for turning up?

First thing I thought reading Macca's statements today was....well there's a coach that knows who to dangle the carrot in front of.
He's worked with Grundy, Moore, DeGoey and Adams before and he knows who to challenge amongst the group.

Calling out the leadership and challenging some pretty proud individuals (Moore, Adams and Grundy) won't be a bad thing in the new look Collingwood of 2022 and beyond.

Nice work coach.

So McRae is basically saying, yes i know you are a different cat and that's fine, we are not looking to change you, but you need to buy into what we are doing as a group. (I reckon Treloar leaving the club probably bothered him more than most.)

Its time to buy into the group and lead the way.

Who are Brodies mates at the club? When you think about it.....when he was recruited Hine recruited a little pony in Kennedy for him (they are good mates?).....then he seemed pretty close with Treloar and to some degree Buckley. I have a feeling that trust was broken last season.

Now its decision time for Brodie. Does he want to buy in? Brodie may decide that moving back home and being with family is what he needs.

Alternatively this may be a turning point in his career and he finally returns back to his Copeland trophy winning form.

I think McRae and GW have the ability to operate in a velvet sledge hammer kind of way.
