As I said elsewhere Moore just signed a 6 year contract - not sure this about face on Grundy, is giving him much comfort about the Clubs integrity and therefore his security, especially if his form slips.
Darcy Moore is the next Collingwood captain bud.

Coll outbid other offers to sign Grundy - that’s the free market at work.
Grundy did not break any arms to get the deal and Coll would not have needed to outbid anyone , if other Clubs were not chasing Grundy.

So the absurd narrative that Grundy is at fault, is just naive and completely unfounded.

He’s equally as responsible for his part.
Players are supposed to take less at good clubs apparently for success…
He wanted full toll and milked every cent.

This is the price he now pays for the actions of 2020.
Just like we pay the price of having to pay part of it for him to play elsewhere

Point me to him saying Grundy was better than Dusty. If he did, it was idiotic.

Just because Leigh Matthews said it, doesn't actually make it true - you realise that, right?
I remember a game in 2018 when Matthews got on a strange roll of praise and declared Tom Phillips to be our best midfielder.

There are no easy choices here - but I would put the integrity of the Club first, and in doing so, reassure the playing group that we honour contracts, and will not force players to leave, especially those who wish to stay.

We just gave Moore a 6 year deal- what must he be thinking about the security of his contract.

I’ve posted before that we will only be $300k per yr better off, if Grundy leaves once a cheap depth Ruckman, is added at $300k.

That’s not a huge enough saving to risk the reputational damage.

Thankfully for the Pies. You are excluded from making any decisions on player retention.

You need to start working out where your loyalty lies. No one can be this obsessed about a player being mistreated. Do you support Collingwood or Grundy? If what is happening to grundy is more important than the welfware of the club, then maybe you need to find another team to support. It's simple, Grundy takes a pay cut and stays or he doesn't and goes, welcome to the 21st Century

Loyalty to a club that isn't loyal to its own players? How long do you think that can last? People ignoring the possible cultural fallout from this do not have experience building successful teams.

If Grundy goes to Melbourne for not much and he is running around with a cup next year, let's hope there is nobody in here having a go at him.

I dont like the way he is being treated at all. Basically like a piece of property to be shipped out when it becomes a loss.

When was the last time a club kicked out one of their stars who wanted to stay and then went on to be successful?
It may be unsavoury but this is the environment that the AFLPA and the managers have created.

The club has made an error in agreeing a contract, but as a paying member I would be filthy if we sat back and said “ah well, in 5 years time we’ll be back” there is currently no other mechanism to right the wrongs

If you don’t see how reneging on a contract and forcing out another player, who actually wants to stay, reflects poorly on the culture of the Club, then I can’t help you.

If you don’t see the ramifications on the playing groups view of the club, or similarly players considering a move, then again, I cant help you.

If you can’t see that this effectively pits players against the Club and where self interest, rather than cooperation and loyalty underscore the relationship, then again I can’t help you.

You can't help him, and a hundred others who want loyalty from DeGoey and Henry and then wanna shaft Grundy.

Does that include the six players who have said they want to come to Collingwood now, while all this is playing out in the media?

Your delusion is legendary, but you've taken it to the next level.

I do look forward to the unhinged going crazy for Grundys 50 hitouts in Rd 1 and ignoring the part where Melbourne loses by 10 goals…

He took the market rate.

Well he better not let his form slip.

With big bucks. Come big responsibilities…..

My advice. Don’t stuff up.

Maybe the quality of those interested is very different to those we really wish to attract.
Do you really think the treatment of Treloar and Grundy, enhances our aim to become a destination club?.

Absolutely, it says Collingwood is getting rid of the selfish players and only wants players interested in winning premierships.

I don’t see it either, so not sure what you’re getting at.

If Grundy is gone, DM is then our highest paid player, on a long term contract, almost as long as BG’s was.

DM’s been sensational for most of this year, but I’m sure over the next 5 years there will be peaks and troughs, as with any player. Probably a long-ish term injury at some point also.

If we’re offloading high-value, long-term contracts “for the good of the club”, what’s to say he won’t be next on the hit list?

Why would people bother signing these deals with our club?
I'm of the opinion that DM is the best in the league at the most important role in the league. He'll be worth it.

Not hope so much as curiosity. Why the reporting of him being all grumpy when he can just nix it?

Because Edmond is a flog. And he needs click bait. The GF was a snore fest and no one was watching the sh1t show on offer. The Handbaggers and Swines stunk it up. So the media goes back to tried and true methods.

Write anything about the Pies. It sells.
