Haven't seen game, won't before tomorrow night, but have had us pegged at 6-8,should still be achievable, west coast have some tough games (Sydney,Essendon,Cats and key game vs us), Brisbane maybe one too far back, Port Have Freo, pivotal game vs Carlton,Cats and danger game vs Adelaide, Richmond have Dockers, Swans, Hawks, Blues and Bombers. Am hopeful we win 3 of 6 and get in, jag one first week of finals and see from there. Hope springs eternal.

LETS TANK AND GET SOME DRAFT PICKS. THIS YEARS DRAFT IS GOING TO BE A SUPER DRAFT.
How much would it improve our draft position if we finished, say, 10th vs 7th or thereabouts? Would be marginal /incremental, right? Just out of interest?

Because finals is the best possible result for the club and the players.

Have to be in it to win it, my friend. Let's not forget in 2007 we were beaten by 100 points by Brisbane at the G (who didn't even make finals), only just beat Carlton and Melbourne (who finished 14th and 15th) and were spanked by wooden-spooners Richmond, all from rounds 17-20.

And after all that we were a kick from a flag.
Lol is it really?

Don't even mention finals.......................... comparing 2007 to 2013 is embarrassing:rolleyes:

If we finish 10th we get a single digit pick, if we finish 7th we get a double digit pick. Single digit picks look better, and they are lower.

Missing the finals would be no bad thing. It would allow us to get Daisy and any other player carrying an injury right for next year. Blood Grundy and the Broom and continue to get games into Witts. If we make the finals it's a bonus, if not we get another good crack at the draft. A farewell game for Dids would also be great.

We now need to win one of the games against Essendon, Syd or Hawthorn. I think our best chance is against Sydney at ANZ, we play well there. If by some miracle we win 2 of these 3 you never know where we could finish.

We will beat GWS and West Coast that's 12 wins, North is a 50/50 game. I see us with 12 wins or 13 at best.

My final eight reads -

1. Geelong 80 pts
2. Hawthorn 76 pts
3. Fremantle 74 pts
4. Essendon 72 pts
5. Sydney 70 pts
6. Collingwood 52 pts
7. Richmond 48 pts
8. Carlton 44 pts

I have given us no wins against Essendon, Sydney or Hawthorn.
Coll v Rich elimination final......

GWS have pick 10 so that push' everyone who would get pick 10 up back one as well.

Melb may get a PP yet too further pushing teams back.

PP1 Melbourne tanking concessions
2 GWS
3 Melb
4 Saint
5 Dogs
6 GC
7 Nth Melb
8 Lions
9 Collingwood
10 GWS activation compo
11 WC
12 Carlton
13 Port
14 Rich
15 Ess*
16 Freo
17 Swans
18 Geelong
19 Hawks

That is if we finish 10th and the favourites win not including finals.

So far AFL have not mentioned if Ess will lose picks, Adel can't particapate.

If the AFL does the right thing and doesn't allow Melb a PP then pick 8 is on the table.

If we were to finish 7th in the above scenario we would get pick 13.

I will be staggered if Essendon play finals.

It's not about finals it's about whether or not we can do serious damage in September or are we going to be making up the numbers and be disposed of easily?

If we somehow manage to miss the finals altogether, the coach should be in strife irrespective of who he is.

I expected top 4 before the season and now we are clinging onto hope to even make the top 8 and potentially miss it altogether.

So far season 2013 has been a letdown and a failure.

It remains to be seen if we can salvage anything from 2013, with the remaining games left.

Yes good post, also don't forget we may get a compo if Daisy leaves for big money, so if we do finish 10th and Essendon and Adelaide lose their picks, 8 and 9. I'm not counting Melbourne in because they don't deserve an extra pick. Also, with Jolly (we paid him good money), Johnson, Maxwell, Daisy, Didak, Krakouer (possible) leaving it may free up some good salary cap money. So by next year we could have two you guns out of the apparent 'super draft' that won't come again in many years and another player.

I feel like we will just stay in the top 8 but say goodbye to finals hopes in the first week.

Top nine technically.;)

yes we can...

My suggestion for the next thread is "Will we make it to the top eight?" That's a harder one to answer.

Other good thread topic would be "will pendelbury play next week?" "can buckley coach a premiership team?" "can markfs win lotto next week?"

that last one is a trick question. Thats the only hint that i will give

42% voted we can't, if you can count that is a fair amount.
Well 42% of people are obviously not thinking straight.

I've got news for those people. With West Coast's loss tonight we are three games + percentage (I know right?) clear with only six games to go. We will beat GWS, meaning that we almost only have to win one of the remaining five.

Seriously, get a grip people.
