2016 - Won 3 lost 19 - Club under sanctions and no one in their right mind would hold this season record against him
2017 - Won 12 lost 11 - Finished 7th (Lost Elim Final)
2018 - Won 12 lost 10 - Finished 11
2019 - Won 12 Lost 11 - Finished 8th (lost Elim Final)

So with the exception of 2016 , he has won 36 and lost 32 as coach and taken them to finals twice.
Winning percentage from 2017-2019 53%
Fixed a toxic culture at the club
recruited well ( Shiel, Stringer and Saad are jets)
Drafted Andrew McGrath - This kid is a star and will eventually captain the club
Got to finals with a badly injured list

This guy is Essendon's saviour

the morons that are calling for his head are the same morons that defended Hird.

Sack him, watch Freo recruit him and then watch Freo sail past them on the ladder.

I love this idea. Woosha has been disrespected and treated like crap by the Essendon Football Club and its supporters. After taking the reigns during the clubs darkest hour and guiding them back to 2 finals series in 3 years you would think they would be appreciative of everything he has done.

Sacking Worsfold and appointing Ross Lyon is the most Essington thing ever.

And both those finals have been floggings. you think after the Sydney final he would change/learnt what was needed but instead nothing was a carbon copy.

Sorry but if he wants to keep his job beyond 2020 he needs change how we play and adopt a the fwd half territory game the sling shot footy from the back half is not sustainable

He doesn’t have a whole lot to work with. If you thought that the Essendon football club would just waltz in to the finals again and be competitive after the sh*tshow that was the doping scandal, that’s incredibly naive.

The club needed to be built from the inside out again after being completely destroyed by the golden haired child. Maybe Woosha needs to be moved on, but Essendon should be eternally grateful for leading the club through its darkest hour. Not dragged through the mud for “only”reachin finals 2/3 years

They really didin't have a sound plan last night, either that or the players are simply incapable of carrying it out? Hawthorn had the blue print two weeks earlier, but the Bombers looked out of their depth, just running looking flash and going nowhere, their ball movement and execution was no where near that of the Eagles who are probably the best field kicking team in the comeptition. Worsfold should put in for the Freo job, he's toast at Tullamarine!

I would say two things in response to this post;

1/ The bombers are so arrogant they probably didn't even watch the Hawthorn game.
2/ The bombers are the same freewheeling cheats they have been for the last decade. And every player they add seems to be just another offensive freewheeler.

Essendons defending was deplorable last night. No structure and no effort. Eagles walked through traffic - all they had to do was stand still and the tackle would simply pass them by - and every time they broke from half back they had free teammates everywhere. There was no evidence of a meaningful zone and certainly wasn't any man on man set up.

I have no idea what the hell they were trying to do - I can only assume 6 of them had run forward with no regard to what their opponents might be doing.

Agree with all of this. I'm just not sure how Worsfold can develop a game plan with a list that lack in basic football skills. I haven't seen Essendon play much this year, but I was shocked and a little scared when I saw how fast they were in the first 5 or so minutes of the game. Then I saw them kicking the ball and relaxed a fair bit.

Essendon will not be a Premiership force for the next 5 years as a consequence of the clubs actions in 2013, the fallout of which is still being felt. I don't know if any coach could have done better than Woosha in the last 3 years, considering what he has had to work with.
The Bombers look great with the run and carry style of play, but it's not sustainable, they don't have the cattle to maintain that sort of game style. The Eagles are more precise and they are thinking better, it's a good team. The Bombers looked like a team of players who were trying desperately to stand out before the big cull occurs pre trade week?

Out of pure boredom it'd be fun to get a new coach.

I don't feel like it's something we have to do until the end of the year.
For any Club who sacks their coach, they need to make sure they are replacing the existing coach with somebody better, otherwise it's just a waste of time and history will keep on repeating itself.

Agreed. I wouldn’t care if woosh coaches next year and we try and find a replacement for him during the season. We aren’t winning a flag next year anyway.

Personally don't think he'll get sacked but next year is his last chance if he can't get us in the top 4 and winning a final then he goes

Of course, but how do you measure “better”?

I agree it's time to take another step and the expectation for next year should be winning a final and not just making up the numbers. But everyone has to know that the fix from the Dank/Hird saga is not a quick one. Essendon will do some damage with a fully fit list. I would also for the first time agree with Lyon, why the hell would you kick it long and high towards WC interceptors ?? No way Woosha was saying at Qtr time - keep that up boys its working well, but they just kept doing it.

No coach can take the Essendon team from last night to top 4 in one season...

Eh? You are making it sound like Essendon lost by 150 points.

Things change quick in football. I am not saying that Essendon will do anything, but I feel for them the framework is in place, they just need another player or two to really take that next step. I don’t think they are as off as some people claim. Seriously, they aren’t Gold Coast, but it sure sounds like some think that by the way they talk about them.

Lyon is going on 53, at the end of the premiership window for most coaches. His gameplans have taken a year to bed down in the past, and I don't think Essendon can afford to waste next year.

Worsfold going on 51 and nearing the end also. For continuity's sake they should keep Woosha, incorporate Caracella's ideas and conduct some soul-searching among the players over what is holding them back.

I think they are well-placed to improve next year if they can get to the bottom of the issues.

You'd have to recruit extremely well to be top 8 next year. In saying that, with the right recruiting & the benefit of a "bottom six fixture" it's easy to see the Dons giving September a good workout in 2021.

What about Brisbane? They went from winning 5 games in 2018 to finishing 2nd this year in one pre season it can change very quickly

That is a good counterpoint. I feel that the difference being, end of last year, Brisbane had the game plan and personnel in place to execute. From what I saw last night and just hearing Bombers fans talk, Essendon still need to figure out, how they want to play the game, and who they need in which spot in order to do it. To me, that feels like more than a one season turnaround to be truly competitive with the big clubs at the top of the table.

The saviour who hasn’t produced an inch of progress in two years.

Get Woosha as coaching director but not the coach, works much better as we'll have an old head mentoring a new bloke hopefully Longmuir
Worsfold is two years older than Horse they are contemporary's rather than Student/Mentor. Longmire was the most recent Premiership Winning Coach of the two men also.
