Now we just need Oscar to put down the cricket bat and lace up his boots. Would be a travesty seeing a Judd not playing football.
He's doing what most kids do: cricket in the summer and football in the winter, with a dash of basketball thrown in. I don't think rep footy kicks in properly until U14s.

Let's be honest - he could be a bog-ordinary footballer and he's still getting picked in the VIC U/12s based on nothing more than his pedigree.

Nah, you still need to football well.
Very early to be picking up on future gun or not but there’s some bloody good footballers at that age.

Not sure if anyone else agrees, but Ben Campo reminds me a bit of a young Setterfield, of course we all want him to be better vs what Will has produced, but attributes look similar. Ben though appears to be a better endurance runner.

I reckon he's got better hands (both as in one touch and quick distribution by) and as you said better endurance. Long way to go but there is plenty to work with.

Think he plays with a lot more intent than Setters ever did.

The way he cuts through packs reminds me a lot of George Hewett. He stays low, and when he sees an opening he drives through to the outside before looking to give off to a player in space.

Also a little bit Cotchin-esque.

I mean that's a great comparison, if he's got setters talent level. Awesome. Talent isn't what's held setters back. Still remember him getting 30s and 40s disposal games in his first year in the reserves. Just didn't ever really convert the potential.

It gets you noticed out of the 100s of kids trying out. Josh Daicos is a classic example of someone who probably wouldn't have made representative teams and then been drafted if it wasn't for the name. Small, didn't go to a football powerhouse school and didn't stand out in a team getting smashed week in week out.

Just a coincidence that he's a good player, then? If not, go and find us a 'no name' clone of Daicos, if you think it happens like that.

The issue is to get selected you need to stand out. As a junior that was his name. He didn't stand out playing school footy unlike his brother who was an absolute gun as a year 7 and changed schools to a better Football program. It is virtually impossible to find no name clone of ND as they won't get the necessary opportunities as a junior.

There are plenty of examples of players that don't get opportunities as juniors but become good footballers and get a go at a later age. If Jordan Boyd's surname was Daicos there is a fair chance he would have played rep football and been drafted.

I don't know, it all sounds a bit too 'cart versus horse' to me. I think it's mostly for the benefit of the F/S rule and the 'good genes' theory, rather than anything conspiratorial.

So the whole F/S vs NGA thing with Carl vs Richmond over Cody Walker thing is a bit of a non story isn't it? There's no chance he goes outside the top 40 if he continues his trajectory so only we'd have a claim to him given the recent NGA rule changes?
He can also choose which club he prefers

Why the **** would he go to Richmond lol.

Yes I know that, but I'm saying if hes a top 40 prospect Richmond wont be able to match a bid on him as an NGA player whereas if he selects to go F/S we could match a bid no matter where it comes so it would be far more likely he goes the F/S route.

Anyway I can't see him anywhere other than the Blues in a few years time, his Dad was a Blues man through and through, I expect Cody will be too.
