Carlton are the one to watch out for - They can win The Premiership

That is loser mentality talk and would be to the detriment of the playing list.
Only way they will grow is experiencing finals. Even limping into week 1 and getting smacked is more than enough to work with over a preseason.

There is also the very real possibility where anything can happen in a knock out final.
They'll live.

Still cooked. No team going into finals with half their list in the rehab ward is going to give it a good crack. Was an enjoyable win today and we may win next week, but we are by no means in the sweet spot you need to be to push for the flag.
Just need to squeeze out a win next week and then get an extra 2 weeks to get as many back as possible.

Or hope Freo lose to Port

Sadly with our injuries we're not a realistic shot at the Premiership. Squeeze in though and with a few stars returning the first week of finals would be a lot of fun. Imagine knocking out Brisbane at the Gabba!
The longer Carlton survive the more players they get back. Week 1 should have most of the best 22 available, DeKoning would be week 2 at this stage?

It looks like those are the two most realistic outcomes for Carlton from here. They either squeeze in at 8th and play the Lions at the Gabba in round 1 of the finals or they miss out due to Freo taking their place in the 8. With Charlie and co likely coming back in a hypothetical elimination final against Brisbane, you really never know what may happen from here. At least Carlton hold their destiny in their own hands - unlike Freo who are sweating on St Kilda getting the win and then have to go out and beat Port.

Carlton's destiny has been in their own hands since they were sitting pretty in second position on the ladder and were (false) second favourites for the premiership.

Not true. Last week their destiny was out of their hands. They're just lucky Fremantle left the door open for them.

Yep , Carlton were false 2nd favourite for the flag.
Collingwood weren't a false favourite for the flag. They were the real favourites. What a botch up job to finish 9th. Very richmonesque and appropriate that % sees your club miss out of finals by oh so much. Enjoy sitting back and watching what might have been

They won the comp last year. I’m sure they’ll manage.

Indeed.

Like Geelong, the Pies know what it takes to build a list to contend, so we know we'll be back contending for premierships sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, it seems the Blues have peaked with a 5th placed finish in 2023, after more than two decades of building and rebuilding.

Will Carlton ever find the recipe that sees them contending for a premiership?
