Makes sense but I don't agree with it long term, if we are to bring in a mature age player, I'd prefer another ruck/forward option. I think there's a bit more versatility in our KP stocks than people give us credit for and our tall forward-line is no more or less settled than our backline. What we need is more impact, not more depth.

You can manufacture different structures forward(height, size, etc), but you can't play 3rd talls on the bigger forwards, if we suffer injuries to 2 of our 3 KPD options

McGovern has all the attributes to play KPD, in fact they might as well get rid of when his contract is up if they aren't going to try this. Cause as forward he is nowhere near it.
Hawkins , Lynch , Cameron , Franklin , Kennedy , Dixon and Harry would all kick 10 goals on him every day of the week
No Speed or body positioning defensively he would get smashed. 3rd tall intercepting at best but certainly not a KPD

Sam berry = Josh Dunkley - both played for the same club.....berry looks like he can kick.

Tom Jonas doesn't get monstered very often, nor does Howe. Yes i know who "TheGun" is, I've been here since almost the start. but unlike you, when he says what his motivations are; I don't swallow it whole lol.

Been her since almost the start yet signed up this week?

Right.

I like this a lot.

Handy that we have the pick before Freo (31 vs 32) but given they are also likely to have Walker and/or Western bid upon before that pick Freo would be hoping he slides to their picks in the 50s.

So assuming Freo have matched a bid and lost their pick 32, we could take him with pick 38 should we want him.

Dockers will lose that pick matching a bid

After matching bids ahead of 31, Tigers will slide down to 32, then us again at 33

Still think we will bundle up and target a late 1st rounder

By small defender I mean capable of playing on and matching the very best small forwards in the comp, there actually isn't that many on our list that can do this. And Plowman certainly isn't that player Saad, Williamson, SPS and maybe a few of the recent draftees could develop there. Newman cannot stay with them nor do we want Docherty playing that role. I promise you every time an opposition coach sees Plowman or Newman on a Robbie Gray / Papley they very much like that match up, and if we have so many options; why have we had midfielders playing that role i.e Stocker and SPS.
I seem to remember Plow playing on both Gray and Papley this year, and aside from Gray's goal after the siren I also don't remember either doing much. I think it was even joked about after the Sydney game that Papley got such a bath that it might help convince him to request a trade again.

Our picks in the 2nd round feel a bit early given what could be available.

Need to remember he's only 173cm and doesn't have the same bag of tricks as players of similar size like Pickett, Papley and Betts.

Maybe worth a shot as a rookie selection.

Yeah, watching his highlights and I am constantly staggered that players don’t bother to learn how to kick off both feet. He looks good but if you can’t turn either way you limit your options and become much easier to defend.

Gibbons wouldn’t have a career if he couldn’t kick on his left.

What basic KPD attributes does he have then?

Size? No. A big body? No. Athleticism? No. Ability to read the ball well? Not particularly.

Since arriving to us Gov seems to have lost his timing and confidence..he has all the physical attributes to be a very good HBF. leap, leg speed and a penetrating/accurate kick...his input in the last two seasons up forward has been shite...he was moved for a short period to the hbf against Adelaide and look good...zero to loose giving him a shot otherwise fhimoff.

By percentage terms, how much better a player do you think Gibbons is for being dual sided?

I don't see it in McDonald. What am I missing?

Looks to be a good prospect but a number one prospect?
If he has a great tank then OK...maybe, but if not - I'd rather Cox, if position doesn't come into account.

McDonald actually does have a great tank apparently. His workrate is outstanding. The only knock on him seems to be a touch of unathleticism or agility or whatever the appropriate term is. He is the perfect size still imo for a KPF. 196 and will have a good build.

He seems a natural, and does the most important things for a KPF, consistently competes and consistently kicks the ball through the big sticks.

Nik Cox is absolutely intriguing. He seems completely ambidextrous, not just dual sided. Remarkable at his size. He looks a bit like the tall, gangly 18yo loping Bont when he is on the move too. With a bit more pace and athleticism. Gee he would be tempting with a high pick. He could be amazing. It would have been great to see if he had the footy smarts amongst the best at the Champs.
