Awesome to see Charles so pumped up after that final shot. He had some really quiet games 4-6 weeks ago or so, but the last 3 games for certain has been up and about. He's scragging, leading up, setting up goals but most importantly has got a lot of energy. That momentum will be huge for us.

Also after watching the replay, the way McCarthy went aerially throughout that 4th quarter was so impressive. Was nullifying intercept marks (a few which I thought were certain) and I reckon had 2 or so marks incorrectly not given to him too. With him and Charles in form, added to Joe and McStay going super super well all around the ground... Added to that is Le Coq ;). Only a short burst last night, but it was very impressive. I'm hoping the longer the finals goes for the longer he'll impact through games. For our smalls, the varying styles of play really match up well together.

I'm more positive about our defence than others I guess. Comparatively they all lost a few contests. And I may be naive but I think there is merit to having a level head in finals. Andrews will be super hungry to be back, Adams looked great first week back, I think Gardiner will put everything into it for a final, and Coleman has looked super promising.

What a wonderful Sunday! :)

Fagan has of course been a fantastic coach for us, and I have very few complaints about him. The biggest one, though, is how he plays favourites. Birchall doesn't deserve to play next week IMO, when the alternative is to drop Coleman or Prior. But I fully expect to see Birchall playing since Fagan trusts him, and that's a pity.

It is hard with Birchall, his form hasn’t been great but we also aren’t blessed with good kicks out of defence and it seems a bit late to change things too drastically on the eve of finals. While rich is great - we can’t leave it all up to him.

Because he's a proud man. He'll be very aware of how poor his performance was and will know what's at stake more than any of our players heading into what - his 8th? Qualifying final.

If he plays, he will play a lot better.

Well I'm just gonna buy myself 2x sneaky Supporter Memberships then, just to get early access to finals tickets and just hope like mega crazy that your the true messiah on BigFooty cause boy am I not missing out for a special occasion like this next Saturday night, if the game is played in Adelaide (YOLO) :p

You'll have to be cheering extra loud on behalf of all the Qld members.

I can see that.

My issue with him is I'm not at all convinced he has it in him any more . For a start his precision kicking has been virtually non existent for a few weeks.

I know it felt like they almost won(by stopping us winning by enough) but the Eagles didn't almost win the game, it was 38 points running away in the end.

I don't think Gawn is as big an influence in the ruck contests as Nic Nat, Gawn is more of a threat getting around the ground racking up possessions, I think the Big O can nullify him and Fullaton can nullify Jackson to some extent.

I'm bullish on Fullarton as a long term ruck/fwd, 2-3 more pre seasons in the gym and I think he'll be a very valuable member of our side, already very good at ground level for a big guy.
I am also a "glass half full" person but if you look at the 2nd half of the last time we met Melbourne (Round 12) you will see how Gawn turned the game for his team.... all over the ground. For me, he is the one we need to work on. Early in last nights final quarter, The Eagles looked like they were going to take the game away from us. We give Melbourne the same opportunity and they will bury us.
Regarding Fullerton, he had a dirty night...dropped easy marks, disposal was ordinary & made to look like a witches hat often. That doesn't mean he is done as a player. He was an outstanding junior footballer and at one stage was rated the best in Australia at 16 years old. That kind of talent doesn't just disappear but, he does need to work hard over the next year or 2 and refine his game to a higher level. At present he's our best option in the 22 but he definitely is in our bottom 6...especially with games like last night.

If Gardiner plays rather than Lester it can only be on reputation and hope that he will come good after playing a couple of games. He has been really scratchy and doesn’t seem to want to have contact to his shoulder. He avoided tackling on a couple of occasions last night and couldn’t spoil either. Very tough decision for Fagan and co. I can’t see them dropping Birchall, just hope he can still lift for finals football. If they drop Kiddy we will get slaughtered by Spargo and Pickett,he was great last night and should be retained IMO.

If Dizzy is passed fit to play by the medical staff, he will play 100%. Don't think it will be a hard decision for Fagan to make when it's all based on fitness.

Ballenden for Fullerton what do we have to loose ? Melbourne will monster our rucks anyway

Thankyou for Gadzorks (the messiah himself) for allowing this match to be played in Adelaide lol and not making myself an arse of myself for wasting money :p

I'll be cheering the boys on for all of you Lions supporters out there everywhere else in Australia, next Saturday night ;)
Have a great time at the game C2L and cheer long and loud :brisbane: .

What sort of crowd do you think they'll get Saturday night, will the Adelaidians turn up in numbers for the neutral game?

Backing Charlie in for a big game on his old home turf.
Cheer loud for us all.

Thanks Jason mp & Dalions, possibly we might get a small enough crowd for the match similar to TAS attendances next week. I think SA government are holding talks to increase the % of spectators allowed at the stadium again (especially for the Port v Geelong game on Friday), but I wouldn't expect the crowd to be the same % for our match. Maybe around 15,000-20,000 would be a good guess for next week, but it could be more, especially for a finals match like this. Hopefully there are more Lions supporters then Demons ones out there, next Saturday ;)

Wrapped to make top 4 again. Great effort by the lads.

Would like to see Coleman stay in. Thought he played a good game.

Cocky has stay in. We didn't have him against Melbourne last time. Want to see what he can do.

No change to the rucks. It is what it is. Gawn will dominate so it is up to midfield to be beasts at the contest.
