Won't our game be the Friday nighter?

Seems to vary a bit. Us vs Richmond was 2 vs 3 last year and to memory was the Friday night game. No real set formula.

first, what likely to happen. second what should happen

out: Prior, Coleman
In: Andrews, Robinson.

Out: Lester, Birch, Fullarton.
In: Andrews, Robbo, Payne( second ruck for Fullarton)
I can't see how you could drop Coleman.

But yeah , it wouldn't be a shock.

I've defended Birch until the last few games and tbh he's now a real liability. And just lost confidence in his kicking which now lacks any penetration whatever.

When you are going up against Melbourne and their fast transition, you need to trust your defense, I don't trust Birchall.

What is Brisbane's record like at Adelaide Oval?

Early days but should be a cracking game.

It'd be close to 100% in the last three years though Port are our bunnies so really shouldn't be used as a barometer for the ground performances. I honestly don't think it'll be a factor one way or the other.

Keeping Lever occupied is going to go a long way to winning us this game. He'll probably go to Fullarton or McStay (with Petty going to the other one, and May to Daniher), and it'll be important for whoever it is to keep him accountable. He controlled the defensive 50 for Melbourne tonight.

The big battle will be the midfield where we were well and truly roasted last time. McInerney needs to do a better job this time in neutralising Gawn in the ruck.

Gardiner will be a big in compared to the round 12 match defensively. McDonald ran a bit rampant last time, and the extra lock down defender will be handy.

Is Payne injured?

If not I'd be doing:

In: Andrews, Robbo, Payne
Out: Birchall, Prior, Lester

Matho as sub again.

I thought Gardiner played a shocker, but with Andrews and Payne* in, and another week into him, I'd back him to improve.

What'll actually happen:

In: Andrews, Robbo
Out: Lester, Prior

I don't think it'd be smart to play Payne in a position he's probably never played in a big final.

Pretty sure it's the winner of the Sydney teams.
If we lose we actually play the winner of 5th v 8th (Dogs v Dons/Dockers).

Loser of 2nd v 3rd plays winner of 6th v 7th.

Given 1st on the ladder would be expected to win Week 1, sort of makes sense the loser of 2nd/3rd gets the easier opponent (than 4th) in Week 2 for finishing higher.

But when 1st loses Week 1, well that's just unfortunate...

I still have nightmares about the last time we played them.

Probably the best first half we’ve played (taking into account the opposition) followed by one of the best second halves Demons have played under Goodwin.

They’re fast finishers and will never give up regardless of how far they’re behind and we’ve been known to concede very quickly against the best sides in recent history.

Had a think about how the match could pan out…

Footy is a game of momentum so you would almost want Melbourne to lead us at half time, then for us to hunt them down. Probably the most realistic way we’ll get the win over them.

We really shot ourselves in the foot not being further ahead in that first half.

I say Saturday night as the demons want the 7 days
Prior did some good things although you say we want Mitch back
Lester for Andrews
Birchall not getting dropped.. I worry about picket and sideshow bob gone to town on Andrews before

Need to set up better defensively. We looked so impotent when they would win the contested ball and move it by hand. Looked like they had 20 blokes on the field. Just no pressure and our mids don't have the speed to pressure a clean breakaway by hand. So disappointing after that first half but they really worked us out.

I think there were a few momentum killing moments in there too. Uncharacteristic errors from guys like Rich and Neale. Zorko gave that free kick away (and 50?) if I recall correctly.

Yeah, that Zorko 50 against McDonald was so energy sapping and at such a crucial time.
