One thing about last night's game...

I am not convinced that Soldo is the complete answer in ruck. He is a competitive unit against middle of the road rucks but he was absolutely monstered by Max Gawn last night. I think when we come up against a side with a class ruckman or two competitive ruckmen we should seriously consider playing two ruckmen. Last night we could have played Soldo with Sweet or Visentini in support in place of Finlayson. We would have lost nothing in the move and we might have curbed Gawn's dominance. Why did we recruit Jordan Sweet if we are not going to play him?

I am not sure if Essendon will play both Goldstein and Draper but if they do Ivan may be up against it again. The problem is we have a Coach who learns nothing from defeat and does nothing to address the shortcomings.

For the record Max Gawn had 49 effective hit outs last night as well as 19 possessions around the ground.
Why do you think playing two rucks who are worse than Gawn would serve us any better than playing one ruck who is worse than Gawn?

Even if we play them both, we can still only ruck one of them at once. We don't get to Voltron them together.

Boak probably on concussion protocols if we are serious ? Burgoyne for him
But apart from that
JHF for McEntee or Evans, take you pick and melt either way
Georgiadis for Finlayson
Williams for Jones
After last night's debacle, where do you start.
There are probably ten players who didn't pull their weight.

Williams in for Jones is a must.

MG could replace either of Finlayson or Dixon

Burton should drop down to being the sub, needs a massive kick in the ass.

IF Jones is going to stay in, we should drop Evens for Williams and play Jones as a deep pressure forward in SPPs role. His fumbles and dropped marked are far too costly if he’s playing in defence.

Both McEntee and Evans will have to be looked at for playing in the 2's this week.

Lachie Jones had more unforced errors than the First Round of the Virginia Slims and so he will have to be looked at very strongly for hitting the Magoos.

Burton is also not far off having a game for the Magpies.

And the question of Finlayson versus Sweet will be discussed this week.

JHF in

Mead out

Bergman back

Burton forward

Evan’s out

Williams in

Burgoyne on the field

Mcentee lucky

Finalyson last chance

mG one more at the magpies

Finlayson will do just enough good to make it look like we should keep going with him as he did this week and last week.

A spell in the Magpies 2-3 weeks maybe could do him some good.

Mitch is doing enough.

I’d give Mitch one more week in the twos . . I’m not sold on McEntee , Burgoyne or Evans . I’m ok with Mead ,
Jones needs to write at least 100 lines “ I must not drop marks “ Allir can do it as well .
Who to bring in is the question. Williams , Anastasialopolous maybe , Sinn ? Sweet .
No bodies really yelling out pick me apart from Williams

MG in for Finlayson, though it won't surprise me if they bring in MG and drop Evans - playing Finlayson as a 2nd ruck/utility.
Would have brought Williams in had he not injured his ankle, but Jones has to come out regardless. I'd shuffle Bergman back and play Burgoyne on the wing. An alternative to that is Jones for Sinn as a straight swap.

Will be interesting to see how they balance the team once both JHF and SPP are back in the side against Freo.

sinn has to come in, sinn is behind burgoyne in the pecking order, however sinn is a better kick, faster, better decsion maker and less 'fumbley under pressure. everything burgoyne can do sinn does it better, its ridicolous.

MG aint ready, recovery wise, no risk policy for a important player. Mckenzie for Jones, need stability and maturity and good ball use in back. Evans out, who to bring in is hard one, expt with Williams forward, punt on the raw kid Anasta, with genuine speed and footskills or even Sinn in half forward role. Thought Burgoyne looked ok so give him more time. Living on edge are Finalyson and McEntee, will go when SPP, JHF and MG return.

I like key forwards that are aggressive and compete. This is why, for all of his flaws, I don't mind Dixon. It's also why I want us to put time into Lord. You can't teach this. You either have it or you don't.

Marshall doesn't have it but he's supremely skilled for a big man so he contributes in a different way.

Finlayson is mercurial and agile for a big man but he is always going to let you down when you need him the most.

Georgiades I'm not sure what he adds apart from run-jump-mark.
