There is zero correlation to Petrenko being underdone last week and us losing. We got belted in an area of the ground that Petrenko has no influence over (contested possessions and clearances). As I have said in other posts - the reason we lost is because Thommo/Danger/Sloane/VB/Mackay/Porps who were all destroyed in the middle.

Surprise surprise - Thommo/Danger/Sloane were 3 of our best against Brisbane - we beat them convincingly in clearances and came out slightly in front in contested possessions. We also had 13 more inside 50's this week than against Essendon. These stats meant that we could carry a non performer in Callinan and got some valuable game time into one of our best 22....

Yes we got belted in those areas but we were still in the game in the last and had we kicked straight we were a chance of winning, if that was the case then an underdone Petrenko would have been more felt.

The point is you can't afford to carry anyone in modern football to give them a run. They need to be fit and in form. Throw away lines like we still won need to be applied when we lose. You can't pick and choose the reasons we lost and dismiss an error in selection.
