Changes for Richmond game

Certainly not without a chance, but Jolly has hit such a rich vein of form, they might not wanna mess with it.

This is my opinion on the issue of the big Fras. I think that we have spent too long trying to find the right harmony in the ruck to disrupt it for the big fella. If it starts to break down and either the big bad roy or Jolly look like they need a rest, then and not before then should the big Fras get to the ol' 200.

IN: Maxwell, Rounds / Medhurst
OUT:Shaw (rest), Sidebottom (omitted / rest)

The other of Medhurst / Rounds could come in for Tarks but I don't see the need as yet.

Shaw's lower back and Maxwell in is a no brainer for mine, Goldsack gets some extra time in the seniors which he has earnt. Sidebottom's form line over the last month or so has been average. A chance to go down and get his hands on the ball in the midfield in the two's will be good for him. Bit town re the Medhurst or Rounds selection. Rounds has been pressing for a long time and I would like to see that rewarded. Medhurst is proven AFL quality.

Out: Sidebottom (needs a rest), Shaw (my SC team weeps), Thomas (rest, ribs)
In: Rounds, Maxwell, Buckley

I love how everyone sees the same things, Sidebottom is struggling with form and probably injury so it needs to either reserves or rest this week.

I really hope O'Bree doesn't get back in the team this year and Fraser can have his one game to get 200, but that's it.

Shaw should be rested and if Maxwell fit come in, otherwise status quo.

Not sure Rounds will be given a game this year, although he sounds like he deserves it. Buckley doesn't deserve it so I'm hoping we keep him out.

Medhurst has to be the only real consideration from the reserves, and Anthony who didn't play might get the call up this week.

I reckon if we could play Cloke, Anthony, Dawes, Leroy and Jolly in the same team, we could find room for Fraser to come in.

This week, I'd be bringing Fraser in, hardly matters who for, and then replace with Cloke the next week.

If we can't find players to drop this week, unless we lose it could be just as hard next week when one of our spine comes back.

On the fitness issue, will be interesting to see where H Shaw and Thomas are at.

I'd be almost certain Maxwell will be ready to play, but the two above could both very easily miss a week and recover.

Giving Shaw and Thomas time to recover and bringing in Fraser and Maxwell is hardly showing overconfidence.

In: Corrie
Out: Swan

Corrie is the element we need in the midfield, and, dare I say, he could be more important than swan this late in the season. He has a big finals series ahead of him.

I think it's irresponsible to suggest we bring in Corrie now. We are clearly resting him for grand final day.

The thing is - we can use Corrie in any position. I might suggest that we rest Presti this week and let Corrie go one on one with Jack. :thumbsu:

Again, it's a no from me. If we happened to play St Kilda in the final and Nick becomes fully fit again, he might be able to study the virtuoso performance against his cousin and adapt accordingly.
The element of surprise is the key.

I think Goldsack would be pretty unlucky to be dropped unfortunately it seems with Maxy back that's what will happen, unless the club thinks Reid needs a rest.

Think Rounds and Medders have earnt a run in the 1st's, with this week's match an ideal debut game for Rounds, although Mcafe deserves to stay in, gee we are doing it tough at Collingwood :p

Not playing Rounds would be detremental to his AFL development, IMO. I would have him ahead of Meds for this week. Just give him a go and see how he does.

I heard this argument a lot lately.
How does this hurt?

Yeah I think as long as the right messages are being sent by the coaching staff (I am sure they are) the young players will realise that we're actually travelling alright at the moment and it's going to be reeeeeeally tough to get a spot. Rounds was just OK against Geelong on the weekend, his 4 goals were rather cheap and he was pretty unsighted in the 2nd half.
If nothing else it's good motivation to everyone, young and old, to stay on their toes.

Macaffer is not in our best 22 and i dont expect him to play in the finals.
A week ago I would have agreed. When a young player performs like he did on the weekend it would be insane to drop him. He would have gained belief from that game and now has the opportunity to build on it with a game agsinst an average side that probably won't pay him any attention. If his next 2 weeks are below par then by all means drop him but after the weekend we should play the MaCaffer cards as they fall and see what we end up with.

Humour...

Anyway I would like to see Medhurst gain some confidence at senior level...

Out: Sidebottom (rest), Goldsack, Blair (didnt really do all that much, and I think Rounds deserves a run, also I dont think you can play both Blair and Rounds)
In: Medhurst, Maxwell, Rounds

I thought that too, but he didn't really have the opportunity to do much, he only played 64% game time or something of the like.

IN: Maxwell, Medhurst
OUT: Shaw (rest/injured), Lockyer

Lockyer was OK but MM said that you can't play guys in the VFL for too long or they will struggle to get back up to speed when called up to AFL. Therefore Medders gets a go, to keep him up to speed and a chance to put his hand up to cement a spot in our best 22.

Heater precautionally rest with Maxy due back now.
