Surely you blokes are a huge chance to upset Geelong? Last 4 games they’ve had WC, GC, Saints, WB. Incredibly soft draw. Week off. Fresh list at Collingwood. You’ve got to be very confident.
I think we have a legit shot. The game we play has always given them trouble, we're playing on the G, and it's been a while since they've had a strong opposition.

The cloud hanging over Jeremy Cameron is huge.

I made a comment about your backline in the game day thread. It’s seriously good. Moore is unreal, Maynard is captain material, Noble is underrated, Quaynor is solid. Howe is excellent. If Cameron doesn’t get up then it’s a genuine 50/50 game. I think your small forwards will definitely stretch Geelong. They’ll be relying on Stewart to cut everything off.

If you break even in the middle and Cameron is out, I think you win.

I think we match up well with Geelong and this will be another close game.

The Cameron matchup makes me nervous. It will likely be Howe with the matchup, who prefers to sag off with the ball coming in long and high. Cameron does not play like this, he gets up and down the ground and that is where his damage is done. Perhaps its Murphy who plays a more disciplined role here, but we cannot sag off this guy. Outside of that, i am comfortable and confident in the other defensive matchups for us, I think its a great matchup for our smaller defenders (Noble/Daicos/Quaynor).

Forward of the ball, I hope McCreery plays a defensive role on Stewart, limiting his impact on the game. Their backline is actually quite similar to ours in that they have a lot of medium sized defenders who are strong in the air for their size. We will need Mihochek, Johnson and Cox when he is forward to be really strong in the air for us to potentially expose them in that area.

The midfield and clearance game has not been a strength for us, but i think with Adams back in there with DeGoey, it gives me more confidence that we can be more competitive here. The Geelong midfield doesn't scare me, i think we can actually win the midfield battle in there on paper. I think we have better players on the outside of the contest too.

surprised hoskin-elliot isnt getting roasted here ..... apart from that effort exiting the half back flank deep in the last, honestly cant recall seeing him all game

I saw him. He missed a couple of opportunities to lay strong tackles, one of which would have held the ball in our forward half in the last.

Didn't do much, but there was a strong aerial contest where he roved his own work and dished it off for a goal.

How the hell are we going to stop Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron?

Wrong question. How is that old Hawkins bloke going to stop Darcy Moore's drive from defence?

Jeremy Cameron Vs Howe is often a great head to head battle with both hitting the highlight reel. Super players

The week off will help Checkers. The bloke has not been at full strength for weeks.

But there should be only one change, Tay in
He’s looked cooked. We really can’t afford for him to play the way he has the second half of this season, he’s absolutely essential to us.

While we’re at it, why can’t Cox and Cameron mark a ball forward of centre now? Both have had that capability in the past but it’s like now that they play in the ruck they feel they don’t need that in their bag of tricks?

I want Cameron of ANZAC Day last year, not this version that can’t direct a hitout to a teammate, doesn’t seem to ever be in the right spot to take a mark on forays forward. Quite frankly he’s giving me the shits more and more each week.

2002 vibes.

Most discounted us as a legit top4 contender, as we only won 13 games and had a % under 110.

Port 18-4, the clear standout H&A team.

QF we go over the Adelaide and get the job done.

Will be the same result 20 years later, Pies to blow the Cats away by 14. DeGoey to kick 4.

Macrae had the look of a guy who didn’t believe he belonged out there, was really poor. If Adams isn’t fit then Macrae for Carmichael.

Agreed. I sat on the Shane Warne wing. A few times he didn’t push hard to demand the ball. He looked hesitant. I’m not happy to admit this fact…

Our i50 numbers are crap.
We need to get our hands on it.
WHE is not much to go win a ball (disappoints me to say it).
He’s a finisher.
And today he looked like a passenger.
McRae was quite keen to involve Maynard through the middle.

In: Adams Out: McCrae
In: Ruscoe: Out: WHE

Bringing Ruscoe in lets Maynard slide up more often.

I’d also be happy to drop Cameron, bring in Henry and play Johnson as the pinch hit ruck for Cox.
